Dakota
Looking for bands that have that weird 'out there' vibe. Style doesn't matter. Possibly anything strange lyrics-wise. Bouncy funky bass, etc is a plus. Just anything. Anyone have any suggestions?
Teabags
Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Nuclear Rabbit.
Dakota
Oh cool, thank you. Checked a bit out, not too fond of the vocals but it'll grow on me I think after more listening.
Soda Jerk
Buckethead - Empty Space album has alot of stuff which reminds me of Primus. Some of it is totally mental. Maybe even Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Also mental, but they have some of that funk bass going on alongside all the silliness. Soda Jerk
Isn't Les Claypool on a lot of Buckethead stuff? If he is, I didn't know about it. That would make sense. The bass is totally Claypool.
Soda Jerk
If you like the nu-metal thing, then you need to get some MUDVAYNE in your lugs. Serious bass.
scottyboy
I had to consult Wikipedia because Buckethead has so many albums I forget which ones are which and whether I've even heard them. Les Claypool is on at least one album, Gods and Monsters. Lead track: Not sure how much like Primus it is, it's a sort of freak-out shredfest, but it does have a fat bass breakdown around the 2m mark. Edit: oops. More wiki-ing indicates that Buckethead is the bassist on that particular track. Otherwise, Claypool is on about half the album. Paranoid Android
The one person in the world I know who is a big Buckethead fan is also a big Primus fan so it is probably a good recommendation.

getbacktothatguy
The intro sounds a lot like "Too Many Puppies" by Primus. It does.If you have to go into town when you don't want to then Primus on the old headphones is the cure.
