Moose
Yeah, I've not been at any teams with good youth coaching or recruitment in this game and have never managed to get it upgraded. It's shit when the very best of your youth players coming through has a maximum potential of 3 stars. You're never going to go with them as they'll probably never even reach that. You do get the odd player who performs really well, regarldess of their rating, usually when they are really specialised to one position, but in general the stars don't lie! I remember persisitng with a 37 year old Chris Iwelumo who my coaches told my was of a 5 silver star rating against the rest of my squad. Stll had brilliant heading, finishing and strength and completely tore it up as a target man.
Soda Jerk
Nearly finished the first season with Aberdeen. 3rd, 1 point behind Motherwell, and many, many points behind Celtic who have played 31, won 30. Boring bastards. Ken Fitlike has made just 4 appearances in the first team. He's scoring a fair bit for the reserves, but he's not ready yet. He did win a penalty for the first team, and then missed it. That's his solitary highlight. He shouldn't have even been taking it. He's not on my list of penalty takers, but I assume he threatened to stab Barry Robson if he even went near the penalty spot. He stabs who he wants. I had a regen appear in my youth set up who has no position. I even had a quick look at the real time editor to see if it was a glitch, but his rating for every position is at 1. He's got okay stats for 16 year old kid in the SPL, but he can't play anywhere. Aberdeen's youth recruitment is so bad that they're not even taking in actual footballers. Just guys from the street. Adam Easy Wishes
As we have discussed, I am back into this in a big way (thanks, World Cup). My Man Utd game I'd kind of lost interest in a wee bit, but I'm now fully involved thanks to a new formation - also narrow: SK (S) WB (A) - DC (D) - DC (D) - WB (A) DLP (D) CM (A) - CM (D) AP (S) - AM (S) P (A) Turned round a flagging season. Looking to experiment with alternatives in 'the hole' along with maybe the CMs to more specified roles but will wait until pre-season I think. De Gea RafaelJonesSmallingB.Davies Schneiderlin Powell/Ward-ProwseFellaini KagawaJ.Rodriguez Lukaku Rooney is 32ish and has turned to utter shit. Can't sell him because no-one wants him. The Milner
Aye Rooney does not age well in FM. In my game he got a free from United at 32, went to Aston Villa, and started 10 games in two seasons before retiring.
Moose
I got a 32 year old Rooney to my newly promoted Nottingham Forrest in my last game and he was monstorous for a season - despite hating all my team talks - and then declined rapidly over the summer. He was my worst striker the following season and was on far more than I could afford. Probably a pretty accurate representation of a player who peeks around 24! Lemonade
I've been saying it since at least the 2012 thread but I've finally, FINALLY bought a new laptop. So I can finally play one of the newer games. 2010 is a good game but man am I bored of it. Now, to get '14 or to wait for '15? EDIT - I just checked, I've been saying it since the 2010 thread. They show a complete lack of understanding about how parts of the game works and the huge fee's involved in licensing.
Soda Jerk
Some of those are reasonable, like better press conferences, because they are a bit pointless, and it's the same questions and answers since FM11. I'd like them to have more purpose, and be a bit more in depth. IRL, you see journos really grilling managers these days, and their responses can be in the news immediately. But stuff like the licenses, German national team and the J-League can be downloaded anyway. I think it's great that they've made the game so open to being messed about with, and pile on user-created additional content. All you have to do is download one of the 'ultimate packs' of graphics once, and you've got them forever. Then just move the graphics folder over every year when you buy the new one. You can re-download the kits every year if you're that fussy. The one about player animations is just shite. Play FIFA if you want to do signature goal celebrations. Moose
Anyone had daft shit in their game? England won both the 2014 and 2018 world cups in my game. 40 year old Frank Lampard is still in every England 1st 11 and gets 30+ games a season for Chelsea! John Terry was the manager of Aberdeen for a while too. Rafa Benitez has been Liverpool manager for a 2nd and 3rd time during my game too, getting the sack both times. FM14 is mega cheap on Steam just now. You can get it for a few quid.

Yeah, Norwich have got into the top 6 consistently in both my games on FM14, and that's without big bucks.

Soda Jerk
It was definitely on sale quite recently on Steam. I'm sure of it. I remember seeing it for about a tenner, definitely within the last week or so. Definitely. Well, it's a tenner on CDKeys.http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/football-manager-2014-pc-cd-key-steam?gclid=CJHD77vbs78CFWf4wgodoiEAOg

Lemonade
I might just wait until 15. It's normally October isn't it? Otherwise by November I'll be like "hey guys check out how good I'm doing" and you'll all be like "nnnnnnnnggg, he's still playing FM14, what's a spazzie".
