I'd also perhaps avoid loading too many facepacks or logo packs, there are a few that are causing the game to slow down quite a bit. The advice is to remove them, clear the game cache and re-install them if you are having issues. I dont use any myself i really dont care about faces or club badges but i saw others in here were using them.

I have the ultimate facepack, which was 8gb, and I think I have the logo for almost every club in the games database. When I see one of those generic shields for some unknown minnow club, I have to find the crest, and replace it, or it drives me mental. Sometimes, they just don't load when you're replacing just one logo. One time, some lowly 6th division BADGELESS German side went on a storming cup run, so everytime it was Pokal weekend, there was that stupid fucking blank white shield, staring me in the face. I couldn't get their logo to load.

Who knocked them out of the Pokal? I did. That was a sweet victory. Ruin my anal-retentiveness, will you, FC Eintracht Cuxhaven? Cockshaven more like.

When I'm not making FM look utterly wonderful, I sometimes play the actual game too.

My computer keeps over heating when I play this.  I assume it's overheating as the power just cuts out and its reallt fucking hot.  There's no way the specs and age of my laptop shouldn't be able to cope with it, but my processor is at about 75% capacity when I have FM14 running on it's own.  Opened up my laptop and there's no big build up of dust or nout.  Any clues?  I maybe just need to get my laptop fixed :-(

Anyway, a point behind Celtic in the league at the end of November.  Only been beaten once in competitive football, but drawn about 5 games.  Neil Lennon was just running his mouth before our visit to Parkhead, saying our run of form will end and we'll fall by the wayside.  Won 0-1.  Also knocked them out of the Scottish Cup to get to the semi.  They could only muster a 0-0 at Todders too.  3 games against Celtic without conceding = good.  Nuno Gomes was worth his wage as he's got the highest ratings in the league!  Need to try and get rid of some shite in January.  It's a shame nae cunt wants a crocked, 33 year old Chris Clark.

I had my previous laptop completely cut out on me during FM due to overheating. This pushed me into the habit of saving after every single match. To combat it, I just ensured the grill on the underside of the laptop is given some air-space so that it can expel the hot air, basically allowing your laptop to breath. If the grill is constantly against a hard surface, all the hot air will remain inside the laptop, just causing debilitating overheating. You can buy laptop stands, which are frames you place your laptop on and place over your lap, and it raises the machine away from any flat surfaces.

Even my current laptop overheats from time to time, and the spec is pretty high. If it still overheats despite the remedial action, it possibly needs a service.

Yeah, i think the next step is a laptop stand of some kind.  I always use it on a flat surface, as it overheated a few times when I was watching porn nature documentaries in bed, as the grill was covered over.  Hopefully raising it a bit will help.  I initially thought it might be the glass table I use, but that shouldn't make any difference against wood or other such surfaces.  To be honest, I don't think I'd be doing so well in the league if it didn't keep happening in the middle of matches!!

That's mental.  Who'd buy Kilmarnock?!?

I'm hoping Pawlett will have a shite time at Ipswich (Ithink he went to Ipswich) and I can buy him back on the cheap.  I didn't know you could do testimonials!

Oh, and I got a cooling fan pad thingmejigger for my laptop which seems to have worked a treat!

not finding this game as easy as fm13, first season pushed for play offs and had on paper a piss easy run in against sides scrapping against relegation but i fucked it up and finished 9th... got to the fa trophy final only to be humbled by Eastleigh of the Skrill South (who did I suppose go up as champions).  So into season 2 and I thought I had done some nifty business but sadly alas it was a false dawn, not won away in 8 attempts and whilst home form is better am sitting in a lowly 17th position, just not in relegation zone on goal difference.  No problem scoring but by fuck my defence is leaky!

Luckily expectations are not too high and am expected to finish mid table.  However a few games ago I got that dreaded a bad result could seal my fate message in my e mails.  Luckily for me dicked Gateshead 5-1 to ease the pressure....

I find it incredibly inconsistent in terms of difficulty, which I like. Sometimes I go and a twat of a run, dicking every team who comes near me, putting 4 past Bayern and bossing 65% of possession, then all of a sudden, a few players get shitty morale, and I'm struggling to score at home in the Pokal against an injury-plagued Wacker Burghausen.

I gotta agree, I just found a tactic on the fm forums for 13 and was within the prem league in under 10 seasons with relatively little difficulty but this i am liking a lot more.  Am under severe pressure now, got hauled in the chairman's office after a 5-2 tanking by Woking and they are not happy with me!  Thing is we were 1-0 up at half time and all over them.  It does get frustrating not being able to hold on to leads though but working on things, just hope I can keep my job as still not won away in the league!

It seems harder to totally dominate.  I mean, I had an unusually good 1st season, but I still went on a few bad runs, like the start of my current season: same tactics, with a few improvements to personel but 0 points in 3 games.  i was still dominating possession, as I aim to do, but with absolutely no end product, and my strikers were all sad as fuck.  Managed to turn it around with a team meeting after a run of 6 bad games.  Climbed up to 4th in as many games.  Team talks and team morale seems pretty huge.  I've noticed players get often get an abysmal morale rating if you drop them after a bad run of form.

Dominating possession doesn't seem enough in this game like it has been in the past. It always seemed to be that if you mustered up the most possession, even 55%+, you'd win. I've had games in 14 where I've had nearly 70% and lost. I think FM have cottoned on that not every possession hogging team is as good as Barca, and even though Swansea average over 60% possession a game, they've only won 5 games this season.

Playing direct is mint.

I've not really tried playing direct, as it never worked in the old versions of the game!  What's a good direct playing tactic?  I have played route-one sort of stuff in Europa League away games with Aberdeen, but only as part of a game plan to have 10 behind the ball with one up top and kill games off, 0-0.

I'm trying to assemble a 4-2-3-1, with DMs instead of CMs.  I think that will require direct passing.  I'm scared of losing though, which is why I've stuck to three tactics I think work.

It'll probably involve a BBM from deep and some kind of target man up top, but I'm not entirely sure if it'll work with the players I have.
