Chris
Sounds like a router issue. An old homehub of mine used to always reset the NAT back to strict which caused me no end of problems with Xbox Live. Google OPEN NAT and the model of your router and you should be able to find instructions on how to fix it.
The Milner
Yeah this sounds like a router problem and not an Xbox problem. Seems like your router is cutting of access, or closing ports it shouldnt be. Who is it from? Opening nat settings is vital for xbox live, but it can be a pain. MattJimF
I always stick my Xbox in the DMZ of my router, so that it's not hampered by the router settings. Obviously there are security issues, but as the Xbox is more secure (note not saying totally secure) than a normal PC/Mac, I think it's worth the risk to save having to piss about with ports and NAT. The Milner
Personally speaking i would only do that if you dont have payment details stored on your box. If you dont then you have very little to worry about.
Moose
I have BT Infinity. I have that wee black router with the bit that comes out the back with the passwords and tang. Could I just get a new router? would that work? I'm on my last nerve.
Scootray
Are you using American DNS settings?
Moose
I just don't know. I can tell you my settings when I get home tonight?
MattJimF
BT won't send out a new router for one device not working, plus they will make you go through the whole testing scenario before hand. I have found the following which is supposed to solve the issue, worth a bash, but can not confirm or deny if it actually works - http://www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/faqs/53-bt-homehub-strict-nat-tbc
The Milner
Yeah BT wont help you right away, not just because your xbox isnt working properly, they will just blame it on the xbox and do little else. The above advice is good, make sure everything is up to date, restores your hub and your xbox to factory settings, and basically try the advice in that link, ive had to do a few things in that link since upgrading to infinity as well. Not sure if its the new hubs you get or the router, but something throws it off from time to time.
Moose
I can't view it at work, but I'll have a bash when I get home. Cheers for the help, I'll let you know if I have any further problems.
