James Broonbreed
How much hassle would it be to convert one of these http://www.backalleymusic.co.uk/contents/media/72%20tele.jpg to one of these https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=tele+72&client=firefox-a&hs=WqY&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=INjJUZOTFtGl0wWtrYGQDg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=620#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=ajw_6E3Lyk7TUM%3A%3BadYSp2z5w1nV0M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fstatic.musiciansfriend.com%252Fderivates%252F19%252F001%252F276%252F408%252FDV020_Jpg_Jumbo_511141.001_black.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.musiciansfriend.com%252Fguitars%252Ffender-classic-series-72-telecaster-deluxe-electric-guitar%3B1450%3B1450 I'd also rather keep the ashtray bridge if possible. Is it 'just' a case of getting a new widerange, new pick guard and bridge/cut old bridge, 500k pot and possibly a router? Once again, why can't I link to my photobucket any more? Cheers. Guest Young Adolesent
from what i see youd have to get a new bridge unless youd want to start cutting your bridge down in size to fit the p90 in but everything else is really standard just a new scratch guard. as to the router thing... i have no clue

TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
One of these :http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/171027147234?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=63 would mean you wouldn't need a new pick guard. Might need to route the body for the humbucker.
James Broonbreed
I'd be fitting a wide range though and like the 3 saddle bridge. Need to take the bridge off when I next replace my strings to check the cavity. Hopefully Fender decided just to make all the Mexican 72 re-issues with the same body
James Broonbreed
Shit, the fucking cunts only routed out a single coil cavity. Shall have to get the chisel out, once I have a spare few hundred quid for the rest of the bits..
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
If you are 100% set on keeping the bridge, you could always just buy one of these:
James Broonbreed
That has 6 saddles...
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Which is a good thing, you can intonate it properly.
Flights
The 72's with dual wide range pickups mad by Fender have bridges with six saddles. You do get this type of bridges though. You'd probably need to get a custom cut guard for it as the shape and size of it looks different from the normal 6 saddle bridge. James Broonbreed
My intonation is fine... I was just going to cut my 3 saddle bridge down to size. However, I've decided against hacking the pickup cavity out so will probably just get a little 59 or something similar for the bridge to save hassle. Now, to find a multimeter to figure out which kind of bare knuckle I'll be removing/selling to pay for it! Thanks for the input though, lads. Just another hair brain scheme. The cost of getting new WR's from the creamery is the main setback to be honest. Cheers!

There are loads of interesting Tele bridge pickups to look at- but only a couple of decent (and stupidly expensive) WRHB sized options out there.
