kirkt
Looking to getting a new hi-fi - I'm wanting something most importantly that plays CDs, that I can connect my turntable to and that sounds good and is affordable. Cassette deck or mp3 connection would be a bonus. Any recommendations? thanks
Soda Jerk
What kind of turntable do you have? Does it have a built in pre-amp, or are you currently plugging it into an amplifiers phono stage?
James Broonbreed
Shop around for half decent second hand separates. Make sure the amp has a phono connection. Most amps I'd imagine would have at least 3 line inputs for CD, tape and MP3 players. These are a decent starting point - after 2 minutes browsing.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cambridge-Audio-A2-Integrated-Amplifier-with-MM-phono-input-module-fitted-/370744675506?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers&hash=item56521accb2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cambridge-Audio-D100-CD-Player-Boxed-With-Remote-/290851927156?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_CDPlayerSeparates&hash=item43b8203474 Cambridge make pretty decent budget gear.... Speakers you can probably get locally quite easily but maybe read up on matching them to the amp to get the most bang for buck - if you don't know about this kind o' shit already.
