Frosty Jack
Just announced on their Facebook page, they will be trading until Jan 31st, then no more. Not unexpected, but still very sad and a great loss.https://www.facebook.com/OneUpRecords
Jaaakkkeee
Just saw this. Gutting. I was well in the mood to go in and buy stuff when I got paid. Will they be open on the 31st do you know? I'd like to give them some money before they shut.
The Milner
Inevitable, but still very sad news. Hope all the guys find new jobs easily enough.
Lemonade
Yeah, sad indeed, but expected. Great place for finding obscure gems, and they did so much for local bands. I guess they just couldn't compete what with online prices, piracy and with everybody tightening their belts in the recession.
Chris
Terrible news for all involved with the shop. Sad times but couldn't see any other outcome for them unfortunately.

silversurfer
With HMV shutting down would there not be a need for 1 UP to stay open ?
HateEvent
Sucks. The majority of my CD collection has come from One Up.
Stroopy121
With HMV shutting down would there not be a need for 1 UP to stay open ?HMV probably made the majority of their money from DVDs, computers, tablets, etc etc. While I love the idea of HMV's demise giving oneup a new lease of life, I really doubt it'll be that decisive.xx
Skacel
Sad news for everyone involved with the shop. Where will we be able to buy CDs in Aberdeen now? Asda and Tesco?Total shambles.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Sad news, it is another blow to Aberdeen's high street. There are not many independant retailers left now really.
Flights
It's pretty sad news but as everyone has said it's been a long time coming. Hopefully someone will turn it into a bar that sells microwave meals advertised as hearty pub grub, there seems to a lack of them on Belmont Street.I'm probably the worst person for not buying from shops. My location makes it impossible to 'pop' to the shops to buy a c.d. When I used to live in Aberdeen I used to visit one up every other day as I used to work across the road from it. I'd often come out with a C.D or two and I enjoyed the record buying experience but when I got home it was ripped onto my computer and then onto my ipod and the C.D went into a big box that never really got looked at. These days I use spotify of my computer, my phone and the other halfs iPad. If I'm unable to listen to a particular artist or band on spotify I'll buy their music from iTunes. Saves a helluva amount of space for a start, plus there's no mucking about. Have a look and listen, click download/ add to playlist and it's in yer lugs. Instant tuneage. Now I think of it I don't actually have a C.D player in my house.

Now I think of it I don't actually have a C.D player in my house.Me too. I found increasingly that I bought a CD, ripped it, put it on a shelf and never ever looked at it again, so it became pointless buying CDs when I could do the same thing quicker and cheaper through iTunes. Like you I also don't own a CD player, and I don't think I even own a single CD anymore.

Graham Knight
This is especially bad for lcoal bands. I remember buying a Cobra Kai CD there long before I met our Lucky - our illustrious moderator.
