THE MOORINGS VARIETY PERFORMANCE II

With a special starting time of 8pm so as to fit in even more joyful, ridiculous entertainment for you, this second evening (because the heckling wasn't horrendous last time) of comedy, music and audience participation will feature funnymen SCOTT FORBES, BOB KNIGHT, and GRAEME PYPER, mustachioed musician TAFF’S DJEMBE FREAKOUT, and the one-man-band-of-the-devil, freakily dexterious with the eyes of a killer; THE RAG N BONE MAN, who’ll close the show with a display of stamping, blowing, strumming and howling. It’ll all be tied expertly together by CIVIL WAR BEARD JAMIE, who’ll also have some challenges for the bravier members of the audience...

Comedy and music will continue until 11pm, after which we'll set the dancefloor alight, metaphorically speaking, with DJ Jester and his night of musical fun: 'Jokers Wild'. £3 from 7.45pm.

VAKUNOHT

The “Vakunøht” vessel was launched with a crew of four cosmonauts from an earth parking orbit on 04.02.2037, setting out on what should have been a routine 120 day reconnaissance procedure to make studies of the Venusian atmosphere... Tonight, experience their story through song - featuring a sexual encounter with an intelligent cephalopod, and other unlikely tales.

Heroic proponents of intense melody, towering rhythms and philharmonic riffage" - Baby Tiger

A flurry of jerky rhythms, searing guitars and anxious harmonies, not a one-trick pony - Is this music?

Driving epic rock histrionics surge and jump like giant horses chasing surfers. Pure splendour - 13th Note

Pacey, brisk, straight to the point and melodic to boot, Eric Euan sound like Eric Euan - Insect Rock

Unsigned heroes, a powerful sonic presence - Vic Galloway

First act onstage 9pm, second act 10pm. Strictly 18+ only. Free entry before 8.45pm, £3 thereafter until close. DJ Beard Fury will provide epic tunage with his night Shiprocked right up to 3am. By which time we'll all be drunk, with luck. Expect Clutch meets Justice meets Deftones meets Muse meets bluegrass meets who-the-fuck-knows: it could end virtually anywhere, musically speaking.

BLAZE BAYLEY (Wolfsbane/Iron Maiden)
Started his musical career as the lead vocalist of WOLFSBANE in 1984. They released 4 studio albums and a live one (which is totally fucking brilliant, incidentally).
When Bruce Dickinson left IRON MAIDEN in 1993, Blaze was chosen as his replacement in 1994. His departure from Wolfsbane led to their disbandment later on that year. Blaze recorded two albums with IRON MAIDEN.
In February 1999, when IRON MAIDEN announced that vocalist Bruce Dickinson was returning to the band, Blaze started his solo career...
His latest album "The King Of Metal" was released in 2012, followed up by another world tour. Once again, we're delighted to welcome him back to the Moorings for another night of classic metal songs, accompanied by Thomas Zwijsen on guitar.
www.blazebayley.net

support: THOMAS ZWIJSEN
After getting over 1.5 million views on YouTube, Dutch classical guitarist Thomas Zwijsen will release his album Nylon Maiden on January 8th. The album contains 11 unique arrangements of Iron Maiden tracks on classical guitar.

MAN MADE ORIGIN
Amazing prog-metal quintet from Dundee. Played the bar last November with Thrashist, and were smashing.
"Man Made Origin are fast becoming one of the best Progressive Metal acts to come out of Scotland at the moment" ~ Inverness Gigs
"It's hard to imagine that Man Made Origin will be an unsigned band for much longer" ~ Sea of Tranquillity (United States)
"Man Made Origin refer to the term "progressive metal" and note to their influences bands like Opeth, Pink Floyd, Deathspell Omega, Porcupine Tree or even The Ocean. I point this out so clearly, because I am still at lack of clear words for this musical trip." ~ MegaMetal (Germany)
"More mature than a moldy block of cheese" ~ UK Metal Underground (United Kingdom)
