Old Gold
Every Japanese Fender I've played has been a total dream. In fact, I wouldn't mind retiring my Mexican one in favour of something a bit nicer.Anyone had any good experiences with anywhere dealing in this stuff? TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I bought a Japanese Jaguar from eBay years ago. Had no problems whatsoever, it turned up in two days! The guitar was great, but didn't exactly suit me.Love my Japanese Strat though, the only guitar that has come close to it for me is a '72 Strat that I tried out in Austin. Flaneur
A mate of mine bought a Japanese 62 reissue Strat in 1991- then left it in my tender care for 18 months, while he went off travelling.Handing it back was one of the saddest days of my life...... TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
A new strat is indeed my aim. Did it get to your door without any of those silly tax and VAT charges? It was a long time ago, but I do think that there were some charges. At the time, you could only get the Jaguar I was buying from Japan, so I was willing to take the hit.
keeno
If you are importing a guitar from outside the EU, you simply can't legally avoid VAT and duty. Most companies will simply not mark down the value of the guitar as it is illegal, and if it gets damaged the compensation only covers the declared value of the guitar. If you are ordering it from Japan, I am pretty sure shipping is about £100 if not more as they insure the guitar. I know some who has ordered a lot from ishibashi (who do ship to the UK). I should also point out you pay VAT on the shipping to add insult to injury. Today must be an import day. 3rd time I have posted that same statement today!http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/eng/here is the used Fender section as that may interest youhttp://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/eubox.php?word=2&key=Fender&equal1=&value5=&select5=down&sort=&print=40&T=gazo

Spoonie
My 1997 '62 reissue Precision and '85 Jazz special are both absolute beauties. Japanes Fenders are the business.
Soda Jerk
Why do Japanese websites always look like a Geocities fansite circa 1999?Crap website aside, this looks so badass:Couple of P90s in it and it's a trip to TONE TOWN
Soda Jerk
Also, just spied this on there:"Jim Root" StratWhat the fuck? What the fuck is a "Jim Root" and why is he ruining Stratocasters? Why doesn't he just some fucking pointy Jackson? Abhorrent little cunt.

Mahogany body, dual hum, maple neck, ebony board. Sounded similar to my old Gibson Zakk.

Don't like the ebony one. Strange as I don't really like black guitars that much.Possibly also to make you rage he also has a signature Orange tiny terror. It's modelled on the dirty channel of a rockerverb 100 and has the tube driven effects loop like the dark terror so it's actually pretty interesting. I'd like to try one. Would be much better if it looked like the original terror IMO but each to their own.iGuitar magazine seem to like it http://licklibrary.ceros.com/iguitarmag/iguitar-issue-9-steve-morse-interview/issue9/page/

My Verellen is going to sting me bad, mainly due to VAT and tax on the shipping and insurance.

Flights
Eastwood Guitars make a Mosrite style Bass 6 which i'm really tempted to pick up.Looks a fair bit different than the Fender Bass VI but for £499 and the fact its much more available than the Fender you can't really complain. toiletbag
I have a '62 reissue Tele. I love it. The stock pickups weren't exactly to my taste (Texas Specials I believe), but the guitar sounded so beautiful acoustically. I swapped them out for some standard USA Tele pickups and it sounds great now.I ordered mine through Rainbow Music in Dundee. I'm not sure if they still have a Fender Japan supplier, but it's worth giving the shop a call if you're up for a drive down here.
