When my old flatmate was on his gap year in Australia he was pretty much offered a game for the Melbourne team. He trained with them and played in the U21s, or U19s, or whhatever it was. Don't think he ever actually played for the 1st team, but he could have if he tried a bit harder and was fitter. He's ok at football.
