MIN DIESEL

Three nice boys who have been exploring the frontiers of Mindie-Rock. They have been documenting their findings in their "Mínage à Twa" ep, the release of which is to coincide with this gig.

THE SHITHAWKS

Dirty words from dirty birds. Dundonian garage with a cynical edge.

RIYL: THE FALL, THEE HEADCOATS, COACHWHIPS.

FB: http://www.facebook.com/theshithawks

PLATYPUS

An enigmatic bunch from Glasgow via the North-East who make woozy lo-fi psychadelica.

DAS MCMANUS

Anthemic power-pop from energetic 5-piece who are playing their FIRST SHOW EVER!!!11

There'll probably be smart tunes between bands too. Post any requests in here. Or don't.

This was a great gig. Un fortunately I missed Das MacManus – who I heard were toight – and only caught the last few songs by The Shithawks. They seemed very entertaining, from what I saw. Platypus were ghastly and I hope to never see them again, however I was surprised to be in the minority with this opinion. Min Diesel are the kings of Scotland; not a weak song in their set. Proper.

I wasn't into Platypus either, though I was stood right at the side so couldn't really hear what was going on. The vocals were especially inaudible from where I was stood.

Min Diesel are definitely the best band around.

Not sure how we sounded out front, maybe the mics were a bit quiet, but I had a lot of fun once the nerves had subsided. Nice to have the debut gig out of the way!

I thought The Shithawks were fantastic. Not the sort of stuff I'd generally listen to, but reckon that'll probably change now! Very entertaining indeed and incredibly tight to boot. The lyrics were great fun and full of wonderful cynicism. I properly dug them, hopefully they'll play up here again.

Struggled to get into Platypus too unfortunately. I think they had interesting ideas, but the execution was a wee bit off. Low vocals in the mix didn't help, but again, this might be due to where I was standing. It was like they were almost trying to be a bit tooooo scuzzy and lo-fi and it didn't quite translate on Saturday. Shame because from having seen previous projects, they can certainly play their instruments well. Maybe they were just having an off night.

Min Diesel were most excellent. I don't have much more to say, they were just properly brilliant. They should play all the gigs.
