[Apr 4, 2012] Top 100 Party + Shake A Tailfeather + Chungo-Bungo (Aberdeen)

Recommended Posts

What a month we have ahead with Scottish debuts, label showcases, all day parties, the new Hot City Zine release, a permanent home for Shake A Tailfeather and of course a big thank you party for helping Snafu into the Worlds Top 100 Clubs this year. On your marks.

This week...

Wed 4th April

£3 // 11pm-2am

Neil & Dan from Shake A Tailfeather will be taking control of our Wednesday nights on a weekly basis after a very successful and higly enjoyable last few months that has seen their popularity continue to rise around Aberdeen, also resulting in an upcoming performance at The Big Beach Ball.

With their crawdaddy twists and she-wolf boogie, expect to hear pure sounds of 50's and 60's every Wednesday; soul, motown, rock n' roll, funk, vintage R n' B as well as sporadic choice cut live acts that Neil & Dan will hand pick to compliment their sounds.

Drinks deals and low cost entry.

Fri 6th April

Snafu Takeover III featuring

Hunt Them Crew

(DJ Kokoro & Marty Selecta)

HTC is the dubwise international duo consisting of reggae/rubadub specialist Marty Selecta (Stalawa Sound, France) and 140 bpm badman Kokoro (Neo Tokyo Bass, Japan). Together they are Hunt Them Crew, and they've been running their session in Glasgow since 2007. Their dances in Nice n Sleazy are legendary, hosting the likes of Cotti & Goth-Trad in Glasgow before many other established nights would even have considered doing so, whilst still staying true to roots and culture vibes. We know their open-minded, bass heavy style is just Aberdeen's cup of tea; DJ's beware, solid selections are imminent.

The Top 100 Party

Two of our best residents this Saturday doing what they do best and a thank you to everyone that has helped Snafu into the Top 100 Clubs in the world this year ahead of very stiff competition. Party time.

To all the staff, bands, DJs, VJs, promoters and everyone connected with the club but most of all a special shout out to those who fill our dance floor - merci, gracias, danke, bedankt, dzięki, grazie, díky, thanks. Here is to the next 12 months!

Saturday nights this month also include big dates with Nick Curly, Digitaline and Marco & Dario Zenker...

Stop the press!!! Hot City goes out on Thursdays...

Our disco-electro-italo-house-synth-NRG-party baby Hot City has some exciting news this month, graduating from sleepy Sundays to a breezy Thursday evening. It just had too much energy for a Sunday night and now becomes the perfect way to kick start your weekend early. Over the last few months Hot City has welcomed Erol Alkan (Disco 3000), Rory Philips (Durrr), Minival, Josh Jones, Hush Puppy, Youlap, Maryvillians, Delusions of Grandeur and MWX. This high standard of cosmic boogie will be a mainstay as Snafu offer the city an alternative option on Thursdays.

April Highlights

12 Blog Launch

19 ZiNE Release Party

26 Alter Ego Disco

Opening April, Hot City will launch into the blogosphere in celebration of its move to Thursdays, opening a space where the DJs, staff and customers can post tracks and photos, images and articles relating to the night. The blog will act as a creative outlet for people to connect and share similar to the Zine, except online and more mobile. The following week led by resident MWX, the Hot City crew release their latest edition of their successful ZiNE venture upon the world with artwork, articles, charts and guest reviews. Look out for copies across Aberdeen at EARL, The Athenaeum, Project Slogan and Snafu. To close the month, Gray's School of Art are hosting a charity night - dress up as your alter ego and come disco - Alter Ego Disco - Raising money on the dancefloor.

Take care and thanks once again.
