MattJimF
Need some recommendations for book series for the wife, ideally ones that are in audiobook format.Currently she has listened to:A Song of Fire and IceThe Dark TowerMagic Kingdom of LandoverI have The Hunger Games trilogy lined up for her next, but looking for other ideas for book series, if you can give some indication of what genre it is as well it would help. Jaaakkkeee
I know I'd much rather listen to LOTR than try and read it. And it'll last her forever.
MattJimF
She's already read the books, it was her favourite series when she was a kid, so no point listening to them.
Spoonie
For a change of pace, the Underworld USA Trilogy by James Ellroy. It's a series that goes from 1958 - 1973 in the US and covers all the major stuff like the kennedy and MLK assassinations, 'nam, etc. It's sharp, fast and furious and a wicked read. He doesn't use long flowery sentences, just powers through. He also blends the historic facts with fiction to fill in the behind the scenes details. Well worth a look. I first got into it abojut five years ago, on this very forum, on me and Pete's short-lived book club http://aberdeen-music.com/threads/team-spoonie-and-petes-readathon-forum.26764/Good times!
Chris
The Ellroy books are immense. If she's into fantasy then Raymond E Feist is well worth a look. Start with the Magician and work through the Riftwar saga onwards.

Alan Campbell is a fab too - Scar Night, Iron Angel and God of Clocks.
