Flights
Something I still haven't made my mind up on yet is the pickguard.I've narrowed it down to 2 options. I think.... I hate making choices!
Soda Jerk
I think the bottom one looks too much like the Delonge strat. The top one looks a little more unique, and classier. Never been a fan of black/white guitars unless the body is white and the plate is black.
Soda Jerk
Man. You've got me tempted to buy a cheap second hand beater and paint the fuck out of it and teach myself how to solder in new pickups. I can't afford this. I HATE YOU, YOU KNOB.

Flaneur
I really don't know. Oddly enough all the old esquires have pickup selector switches on them. You can't seem to get a tele control assembly without a pickup selector It's quite common for esquire builders to put a stealthy neck pickup under the guard - a hot one, naturally
Soda Jerk
Probably have to wait til after my holiday in June since I've ridiculously bought a new amp when I should be saving spending money. Might give it a bash over the summer. I'd really like to find a cheap Tele with a humbucker cavity in it, and put a P90 in the bridge, but finding a 'fat strat' is much easier than finding a cheap HB equipped Tele. Boo-urns. Soda Jerk
I can't seem to find a standard Tele with a HB in it. How easy it is to make a single coil cavity into a HB sized cavity?
Flights
no idea to be honest. It could go pretty badly if you fucked it up. That's why i was only planning on putting the bridge in my strat because it already had a humbucker in it. You would need a decent set of files and some kind of cutter to route out a humbucker cavity in a tele. You'd have to be careful not to cut too close to the bridge and that as well. You'd have to do something about the paint though...
Soda Jerk
My word. That is quite a sight. Everything about it is bad. The finish line paint job. The big domino pickups. The headstock.
Flights
What you on about? that checked flag adds to the tone! Joking aside it's horrible. You'd have a decent body to start modding tho
Soda Jerk
True. I might just pick up a cheap Squier and chuck a Piledriver in it or something, or get someone in the knock to cut the cavity, and do the rest myself.

Soda Jerk
Yeah, it will still have a single coil cavity in there though. I want a HB sized cavity so I can put a P90 in there. I love P90's and Flights' project has inspired me to have a bash. Thanks Flights. I DONT HAVE ANY MONEY TO DO THIS!

Soda Jerk
mmmmm£228 squier vintage modified custiom II teleOh man, I had the black version of this. Seriously great guitar. The necks are just incredible. They jacked up the prices recently, but I got mine for less than £200. Really really good guitars, and DD pickups are underrated. I wouldn't buy them as an upgrade, but they are better than most, if not all stock pickups on budget guitars.
Murrr
This thread is completely awesome. I've only recently picked-up my guitar again after a long absence, but I've got an old sticker-covered Washburn WI-24 sitting around somewhere. Really tempted to do some work on it now. Flights
Oh it's ace fun. Wish I had more disused guitars lying about. A WI-24 would be a solid start. It's kinda like a Les Paul shape isn't it?
