His debut solo album ‘First & Last’ was self-released in 2010 before being picked up by Chemikal Underground in 2011. The follow up ‘Thirteen Lost & Found’ was released in January this year to widespread critical acclaim and features collaborations with Alasdair Roberts, Aidan Moffat, Alex Kapranos and Emma Pollock (amongst others). A hugely gifted guitarist, Hubby's work incorporates elements of flamenco, folk, samba and taiko and is inspired by events in his life that have, at times, been heartbreakingly difficult. Not so fast with the doom and gloom though because there are also amazingly evocative pieces dealing with adolescence, love and even his dog Mr Bone. The strength of Hubby's playing lies in his ability to evoke emotions in a way that many of his peers in bands with vocals can't even come close to. Hubby’s technical prowess, combined with the intimacy of his shows has secured his reputation as an unmissable live performer – a fact not lost on the likes of Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat and The Twilight Sad, who have all invited Hubby to support them on tour. http://www.rmhubbert.comhttp://www.chemikal.co.uk EMMA POLLOCK – is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and founding member of The Delgados, one of the most interesting and influential bands to emerge from the mid-90s Glasgow music scene. One of the most bewitching singers and natural songwriters around, Emma released her debut solo album Watch The Fireworks on 4AD in 2007 and returned to Chemikal Underground in 2010 with the release of her second solo outing The Law Of Large Numbers . The album is crammed with unconventional arrangements and by Emma’s own admission, was an almost entirely self-serving project. With taut, sparse production, hints of Dixieland jazz, abrasive pop songs; programmed drums and improvised vocal loops – this record is, in short, and in the words of Emma herself, “The truest representation of me as an individual - whatever that means.” http://www.emmapollock.comhttp://www.chemikal.co.uk Amber Wilson– is an Aberdeen singer-songwriter who released the much-awaited follow up to her debut EP in August 2011 on the Jagged Roots label. The online release is a double A-side single with a recently penned song, “An Affirmation” alongside a radical reworking of an old favourite, “Raise the Alarm”. This new recording sees Amber develop a far more produced feel than her debut live EP, with a sense of intensity through layers of strings, piano, drums and electric guitar having been added to her line up. Her honey-warm vocals still very much to the fore, its little wonder the comparisons to Feist, Sia and Dido still resonate, though her music is more akin to Sufjan Stevens or Iron & Wine. Having shared a stage with the likes of Paolo Nutini, Seth Lakeman, Amy MacDonald and Fionn Regan over the past few years Amber has built up quite a following. In the past year, Amber has added her vocals to the track “Past Passes By” on Rod Jones of Idlewild’s solo album “A Sentimental Education”. However she has been focusing on her own solo material and has performed at festivals throughout the Highlands & Islands and further afield in Paris and Dublin. This could possibly be Amber’s last hometown show before heading off to tour America / Ireland and the European festival circuit with an established London-based band. (We can’t tell you who just yet - oooh how exciting!) http://amberwilson.believeband.comhttps://www.facebook.com/JaggedRoots

Mr Owl PhD
This was a quite splendid show. Emma was as good as I've ever seen her, and the new songs she played were really good. Hubby was majestic. I'm sure Amber was great too, but I was a bit late for her sadly. It was also good to see plenty of people at the Tunnels, who pretty much all behaved themselves when the various artists were playing too. I hope that encourages IMP to put on lots more gigs in the near future.

Hopefully the second half of the year will see someinteresting music evenings of the highest order.....
