Oedo 808
Has anyone seen this project before? I think it's rockin. They've taken a disused elevated railway line in NY and turned it into a park. http://www.thehighline.org/
ca_gere
It's quickly become one of the most popular attractions in New York. There's an amazing bit that has terraced seating (bleachers they say here) and huge windows looking straight up 8th avenue. You get a really unique view all the way up to midtown and it feels like you're sitting right on top of the traffic. Great people-watching place (by people-watching I mean "perving on the fanny" of course). It was horrible in summer though, too rammed. Rammed with fanny right enough, but still too busy to move. There's talk of a 'low line' being built underneath Delancey street on the other side of Manhattan. An underground garden space I'm assuming.
