being single helps. the instant i got out of my last relationship i moved away from noodling on an mpc to full productions on ableton. never looked back. never pursued another relationship since either lol

It's so easy to get obsessed with getting a track sorted and then you realise 8 hours have passed and you haven't moved from your seat. I don't do it with any ideas of performing but yet I still need to get it right. Beatmappimg takes up most of my time, especially with older tracks. Girls don't understand these things because they hate fun.

I'm aware of my restrictions and just enjoy doing it for the sake of creating. If over a few years I get good at it then that's great, but at the moment I'm happy to stick my work up and keep plugging away. I'm enjoying it and that's the main thing. Make music for yourself!

this is exactly how i feel about it! alot of folk i show my stuff to are like 'you should stick with guitar your already good at that' sort of thing, but im not just doing it to try and get a commercial product anytime soon, im on a creative journey of musical discovery!! And if it takes a few years before its anything respectable then thats fine by me. I think once ive got the skills ill be able to do something new involving both my production and my guitar playing, which is something worth sounding shit for a bit for!

soundcloud.com/tracks/2336881

This one is about 3 years old

This claim to Soundcloud embedding is false though, if you can't see the wave from the page, it isn't embedded, merely linked to. I'll try a few more iterations...

The specified URL cannot be embedded as media. But 'tis the souncloud URL, in the 'embed' bit, this doesn't seem like my tech failure...

Something I started last night (well early hours of this morning) I had a really nice sound for the lead then lost it, so dialled in something horrible instead (i never use presets and never save any either!!) Im still in the middle of writing this tune so the song is more important than the production (and I never finish anything anyway so this is probably as good as it gets) How do I get this sounding more IN YOUR FACE however...how does it sound? It sounds ok to me but the drums arent as heavy as I'd like....the lead sound sucks and the bottom end isnt so refined...its done in cubase using Addictive Drums, Tassman and Korg Wavestation. If its a rip off of anything , I don't know it...I dont' listen to music like this.

Not sure how to edit my last post, here is the finish track, minus vocals...not sure what to add on it, I don't like vocals...

anyone with decent speakers able to give it a spin? i have only heard it on walkman earphones....

That's pretty good. The bass is maybe a little murky at points on my headphones.

On an eighties trip just now....one finished tune

http://www.anticitizen.co.uk/mp3/eightiestune.mp3

one unfinished, which is similar...both of these were made with soft synths and sound a bit thin, but deliberately lofi, 80s-ish

http://www.anticitizen.co.uk/mp3/eightiestune2.mp3

Not very 80s-ish also not finished...

Using the JP8000, a bit of a muddy mix tho and stupid song...no sequencing except the drums, i like the looseness
