[Sep 17, 2011] The Burning Harpsichord: Robert Curgenven (AB31 5QA)

In the first of a new series of music erring on the more experimental side of things, curated by Bill Thompson, we have the rather spiffing Robert Curgenven and the equally splendid Andy Smith as support. Full details and tickets can be obtained here: http://www.woodendbarn.co.uk/event/woodend-barn/burning-harpsichord-series-robert-curgenven

Robert Curgenven's compelling work spans immersive resonances created with turntables and custom-made vinyl, instrumental harmonics and guitar feedback to carefully detailed field recordings from remote areas in which he lived for many years.

Robert creates a language of moments that draws on the physicality of sound – and not just the physical impact on the body but the way in which sound can shape our perception of space and the flow of time – from the edge of silence to complete immersion.

Doors open at 7.30pm and first act onstage at 8pm.

£10/8 in advance and a mere £5 for u16's.

If you're coming by bus the 201,202+203 are the ones to go for, and there's usually one every 15 minutes or so at the start of the evening. 202+203 stop closest to the barn, just jump off the stop once it turns at tesco and walk up the hill. If you're on the 201 jump off across from tesco's.

the 20 past 10 one is located at the end of the drive up to the barn and the midnight one is outside tesco on the north deeside road. most events finish just in time to get to the 10.20pm bus when it reaches the barn otherwise it's a short walk to scott skinners for an extra drink and there's a bus stop outside there to get the bus just before midnight.
