AMBER WILSON (Jagged Roots)

Aberdeen songwriter Amber Wilson released the much-awaited follow up to her debut EP in August 2011 on the Jagged Roots label. The online release is a double A-side single with a recently penned song, An Affirmation alongside a radical reworking of an old favourite, Raise the Alarm. This new recording sees Amber develop a far more produced feel than her debut live EP, with a sense of intensity through layers of strings, piano, drums and electric guitar having been added to her line up. Her honey-warm vocals still very much to the fore, its little wonder the comparisons to Feist, Sia and Dido still resonate, though her music is more akin to Sufjan Stevens or Iron & Wine.

Having shared a stage with the likes of Paolo Nutini, Seth Lakeman, Amy MacDonald and Fionn Regan over the past few years Amber has built up quite a following. In the past year, Amber has added her vocals to the track Past Passes By on Rod Jones of Idlewilds solo album A Sentimental Education. However she has been focusing on her own solo material and has performed at festivals throughout the Highlands & Islands and further afield in Paris and Dublin. Amber has been touring throughout the UK in August and September, from intimate acoustic shows to festivals and gigs with her 7-piece Handsome Band, with an appearance on the Bohemian Jukebox Stage at Moseley Folk Festival in Birmingham on Sunday 4th September.

AMY SAWERS

Perhaps the best female voice in Scottish rock and a firm favourite of the IMP crew, Amy has just got better and better from her early gigging in 2000. Recording for Fat Hippy set Amy forward and she has received lots of airplay on local and national radio, even having a No 3 in the AUSTRALIAN indie charts with the track "Black Bones".

In recent years Amy has honed her fine writing, her live shows have got bigger and she has supported the likes of Alabama 3, Brakes, The Phantom Band, Dawn of the Replicants, Eugene McGuinness, Ida Maria and Girls Aloud, yes odd but true. GIRLS ALOUD! A great supporter of charities including our beloved UTG campaign, she has appeared at various festivals. Recent acolades include one track "Free Like Sun" appearing on SKINS series 3, which brought some great national attention. After having some time off enjoying being a mum Amy is back and tonight she's going to blast us solo into space......

PANDA SU (Jagged Roots)

We are simply delighted to welcome back Panda Su after her fantastic gig with us in February this year.

Panda Su is something of an enigma. Half Portuguese, born in the rural Highlands of Scotland and having spent her formative years deep in the forests of Fife, she found her own voice early last year with the release of the critically acclaimed Sticks & Bricks EP. One of lifes interlopers, her music stands on the edge of reason, where Su looks into the precipice with a wry smile and a nervous anticipation that is mirrored in her lyrics. Darkly fascinating, she weaves her spell with a recipe of childlike simplicity that is nothing less than compelling.

Awarded Jockrocks Best Scottish Newcomer in 2010, Panda Su has gained a worldwide following through her constant touring and festival appearances. The inclusion of her song Eric is Dead in the Finale of Skins Series 4 and the French Compilation album Fete De La Musique has seen PANDA SU develop a fan base throughout Europe and North America. Most recently, she was surprised when her song I Begin popped up on iTunes own Scotland Today compilation alongside Biffy Clyro, Mogwai, Paolo Nutini.and Susan Boyle! Her new EP, I Begin is a collection of recordings made with producer Robin Sutherland in Dundee over Christmas 2010. Yet again, Panda Su has managed to pull off a delicious slice of dark pop devised to disarm the listeners subconscious.

Bee Song leads the way and lulls the listener in with a false sense of familiarity. The song is a delightful gateway into the deep and highly complex mind of Panda Su, but exactly who, or what the bee is must be left open to individual interpretation. I Begin is a song which, until now, hadnt seen the light of day. Beautifully hypnotic, it makes use of a choir of schoolchildren in an enchanting mantra that sits comfortably alongside the dark electronica that is fast becoming a trademark of Panda Su.The EP is completed with studio recordings of two of the songs which surfaced during her gigs and festival appearances of summer 2010, Alphabet Song and Facts and Figures.

"Panda Su has crafted an album that is immediately likeable while becoming better and better with each subsequent listening. Thats a good place to inhabit. The EP immediately evokes Sufjan Stevenss older albums" - Jesse Diener-Bennett, www.bestnewbands.com Single of the Month, The List, May 2011

"Arguably the most engaging record of the year" - Hamish Gibson, www.audioscribbler.co.uk

"Panda Su has a way with a tune that could see her replacing Adele in the nations hearts" - Bernhard Bessing, www.isthismusic.com

Wisely produced and satisfying Folk-pop perfection. - Brendan Morgan, Bearded Magazine

KERRY FOWLER (Jagged Roots)

Aberdeen born songwriter Kerry Fowler moved to Dundee almost 10 years ago and since then has set up her own record label and management company, Jagged Roots Music. The label represents several alt-acoustic artists, including Panda Su, Amber Wilson, Kerrys own solo career and the avant-garde Slavic folk ensemble, The Lost Todorovs, which she also fronts. Her debut solo release Dance of the Selkie won many accolades throughout the UK and beyond.

Kerry can count BBC Radio 3s Mary-Ann Kennedy amongst her fans and her track Tide featured as Nokia Musics track of the month in France shortly after release. Comparisons have been drawn to female artists from wildly different backgrounds and genres including Bebel Gilberto, Julia Stone and Laura Marling. However, despite finding herself ensconced in the new folk and art-house acoustic movements, Kerrys background was very much based in Aberdeens late-90s indie scene. Winner of the Dundee Musicians Award in 2009, Kerry works with various musicians and is as likely to be seen performing with a harmonium and bouzouki as she is a guitar, although very often that decision is made minutes before stepping onto the stage.

SARAH J STANLEY

Sarah J Stanley is a multi-talented musician from Aberdeen. A well known name around the citys music scene, Sarah has built up a fantastic rapport with local promoters, bagging her some respectable support slots over the past few years including; This is the Kit, To Rococo Rot, Bo Ningen, Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers and Panda Su. Many people will know Sarah as a melodic acoustic singer songwriter, whilst others will know her as a producer of dirty electronic beats.
