Kerrang! Nick Oliveri faces up to 15 years in jail

Kyuss Lives! bassist Nick Oliveri is facing a maximum of 15 years in jail following his five-hour showdown with the Los Angeles Police Department last month.

As reported earlier last month, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call by concerned neighbours on the evening of July 12, after Oliveri got into a heated argument with his former girlfriend and prevented her from leaving his Hollywood residence.

The former Queens Of The Stone Age bassist refused to allow police officials into his home, nor allow his partner to leave, resulting in a tense two-hour standoff with a SWAT team before allowing her to leave. Two more hours passed before Nick gave himself up to the police. He was charged with domestic violence and was released after posting $100,000 bail.

According to U.S. website TMZ.com, the bassist has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer. If found guilty of all charges, Oliveri could spend up to 15 years in prison.

A date for his court appearance has not been set.

oops! Though not hugely surprising, if there was a leauge of stoner bassists most likely to get 15years for domestic violence releated charges he'd have to be top.

Yeah the man was a timebomb, I'm amazed this didn't end in a shootout.

Seems a fucking long time for locking your mrs in the house and telling the cops to fuck off though....

xx
