Cory Branan

Memphis based Cory Branan is a singer/songwriter will be playing Cellar 35, the only Scottish date of his forthcoming UK tour.

He garnered comparisons to Ryan Adams, Pete Yorn, and Bright Eyes Conor Oberst with the release of his 2002 debut album The Hell You Say.

Describing his style, Cory says: "I started calling my music 'MUTT' years ago when people would ask the unfortunately ubiquitous question "what kind of music do you play?". Mutt music sounded like a graspable answer as opposed to "a grab-bag of american roots forms, folk, punk, and whatever the song craves".

Intense dynamics, deep humor, brave production and heavy songwriting: A new voice emerges to run with the greats." - Playboy

"There's a new breed of singer-songwriter - Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and now Cory Branan." - Rolling Stone

"Cory Branan is featured in Rolling Stone's current (2003) 'Hot Issue,' but don't hold that against him...songwriting prodigy gives John Prine a run for the money." - Billboard

"...armed with fierce lyrical gifts, Branan rejects Southern musical clichs, approaching his songs with humor, intuition and lowdown poeticism." - Blender

"...this isn't your typical strummer." - American Songwriter

"4 Out of 5 Stars." - Blender on 12 Songs

The Malpaso Gang

Formed in Aberdeen in 2010, The Malpaso Gang play original country and western songs in the vein of the classics of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. A few choice covers from the likes of Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and George Jones occasionally find their way into the set too. Driven by the high lonesome sound of the steel guitar, The Malpaso Gang take the audience back to a bygone era where melody is king and dancing is guaranteed.
