Scootray
Yeah, you're right. No man past his pre teens should want to play computer games any more. Especially not in a bar.xxI didn't say computer games. Just arcade games. What's the point when you've got the likes of Xbox, PS3 etc etc
Guest E.C
Flying Shark, Puzzle Bobble 4, nuff said. And just about any care game is better in a decent arcade machine. Is that arcade machine still in The Moorings? Stroopy121
Is that arcade machine still in The Moorings? Literally not been in for about 3 years. It is and it is awesome.Nothing better than trying to get through a game of Mortal Kombat hammered.xx

What's the point when you've got the likes of Xbox, PS3 etc etcI'd probably rather play a game of pong than the call of duty or whatever. Teabags
Is that arcade machine still in The Moorings? Literally not been in for about 3 years.Prob a different one than the one you would've seen. Mainly different games. Flying Shark is gone, which sucks ass, but some fucking awesome games still on there. Toobin', Mortal Kombat, Puzzle Bobble 1-4, Robotron 2014, Centipede etc etc
Lemonade
I'm sure the Mortal Kombat machine in the Moorings has the difficulty turned way up. It's fucking impossible. I used to always play Rampage in there, but I have it on my Master System at home now so it's lost it's appeal a bit.
ca_gere
ca_gere, have you been here Barcade | 388 Union Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11211 | 718-302-6464 ?A friend of mine who's into old arcade games visited and fell in love with the place.I was unaware of this place. I am now desperate to go. Could be a new contender for best bar after this place Fat Cat NYC : live jazz : bar : pool : ping pong : your local West Village hangout. Live jazz and soul music, Ping Pong (i'm talking 10 + tables, nae one shitey thing in the corner), Pool, shuffleboard and Chess - all in the one place. Paranoid Android
Ping pong as a bar sport! What an amazing idea. I've never seen that before at all.
ca_gere
Ping pong as a bar sport! What an amazing idea. I've never seen that before at all.Yup. It was pretty much the best thing ever knocking back beer and playing ping pong. They solve the ball bouncing everywhere by putting up nets. Think it'd work in the UK or too many bams to spoil the fun?

Still quite shit though.
Paranoid Android
I fail to understand how it is possible to have those two things and still be shit.I'm not sure ping pong would ever really take off in bars here, but I'd like it. Surfer_Rosa
It's just one of those places that tries a bit too hard to be quirky.

Jaaakkkeee
Hmm.. Go out to pay for over priced drinks to sit and wait for a shot of an old game (ps2) then get rushed out of your shot.Or stay at home with a few beers a few mates and play ps3 till whenever you like.Fuck, I think I'll go for the first one! Lemonade
Hullaballos used to have Playstations at all the tables. Fun times. The old AUSU in the Gallowgate had a Playstation as well and you could play it on their ginormous monster projector screen that took up most of the back wall. That was ace! Still quite shit though.I think you're talking about Hillhead bookclub off Byres Road? They have a snes, megadrive and a playstation setup. Most of the playstation dics are scratched to shit so don't work, however last time I was there a working copy of Bushido Blade was in the machine. Drunken samurai showdowns? yes please.
