Scotland's Rock Scene Needs You!Jack Daniels and The Cathouse Announce Summer Launch-Platform for Unsigned Scottish Rock Bands!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Drink giant Jack Daniels have coupled up with Legendary Scottish club and live venue, The Cathouse (Union Street, Glasgow) to launch Rock Idol. The weekly events, running every Tuesday from 31st August to 16th November, are designed to showcase unsigned Scottish alternative bands and select the best talent to compete for amazing prizes including a support slot with a headline band in the Autumn of 2004, studio time, drum kits, guitars, amps and of course Jack Daniels for runners up!The event is for over 18 bands only, however a Cathouse spokeswoman confirmed that they are looking into securing a partner to run an under 18 version of Rock Idol in the near future. Eight bands will compete each night from 7.30pm - 12 midnight, battling for one of the sought after 6 places in the grand final. Each band performing at the heats and finals will receive their own tickets to drum up their support, and entries are expected to arrive from all over Scotland. With tickets priced at an astounding 2 (also 2 to walk up at door) and all drinks priced at 1.80 all night these events will be certainly be accessible to everyone!Judges each week will change, including Scottish music & concert promoters, rock DJs, rock journalists, rock radio DJs, band managers and even guest judges from agencies and labels specialising in the rock and alt genres!A spokesperson for Jack Daniels commented "Jack Daniels is famously linked with rock music and the alt scene and this is our chance to support the talented people and bands of Scotland by giving something back - an opportunity to realise their ambitions, get noticed, play the infamous Cathouse stage and get their hands on great limited edition band kit and equipment."The Cathouse management have confirmed that, for those wanting to party on, the club will be open from 10.30pm onwards each Tuesday with free entry for ticket holders and only 2 for walk-ups.This is your bands chance to play warm up for a headline band later this year, or win some of the amazing equipment being supplied by Jack Daniels and Fender. Demos are required to apply, along with a copy of your bands Biog. Send them to MANAGER, ROCK IDOL, c/o The Cathouse, 15 Union Street, Glasgow, G1 3RB. And although the overall closing date for demos is 30th September, organisers advise that you get yours in asap for your bands' big chance! That would provide way better experiances than just heading onto some main stage and not having a clue how to do anything...
