after all the discussion on threads here recently, here's a chance for you intellegent people to support a worthy live cause. The main artist will have visuals to extra stimulate the parts other gigs cant reach. The film crew may catch you sober & the almost exclusive DJ set comprising of ........................ will maintain the momentum in a style fitting the event (here a few names xploding plastic, mapstation, bill wells, to roccco rot, hood, radian)

so here it is

interesting music promotions are delighted to announce an outstanding evening of

improvised music @

Dr Drakes

Sunday 8th Aug 04

Doors 8pm

door tax 5

featuring

Colditz

Optimum Dose

DRN

Colditz (Creeping Bent/Psychiatric Records)

Colditz's sonic emissions have so far been best described as minimal-orchestral-electro compositions. He combines home grown samples to create peculiar rhythms, layers of chronic horns and removed piano parts. He has the ability to tingle parts of the brain other musicians don't even know exist. Colditz has released a debut album We Are Animals through The Creeping Bent Organization, which has raised comparisons with everyone from

Soft Machine to Erik Satie. It has also been declared a "musical revelation" by BBC Radio 3's 'Mixing It'. It also includes a cover version of Range Life by Pavement.

Optimum Dose

The founding members of Delicate AWOL James Brooke and Caroline Ross with

the addition of local musician Philip Johnston present for you a stripped down approach to improvisation. This is music of the moment that is reliant on both musician and audience.

DRN

DRN is basically a collective of musical individuals who gather, when asked,

to do one off performances. The title 'DRN' is actually the name of the

event and not the band (as there is no band as such). The first performance

was at Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and involved the only two core

members, Ziggy Campbell and Kev Sim. Since then approx 10 others have

been involved in various mutations. The events are never rehearsed and the

members rarely have any strategies other than 'make sound/don't make sound'.

The collective aspire to create an event where every member of the audience

participates and joins DRN. Until then they will gather, when asked, to do one

off performances. (+Andy Fopp electronic gizmos)
