kirsten
I found this pretty helpful a few months back: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/general-discussion/60996-places-eat.htmlAlso, I'd recommend Spice Dabba above One Up and Nazma on Bridge Street. Have heard Monsoona there is also not bad.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I also recommend Spice Dabba, especially if you are wanting to go for a slightly different take (i.e. non-European) on Indian food. It is really well priced too.
Guest droid
Jewel in the Crown is absolutely fantastic....i would book though as it's usually very busy !
Guest idol_wild
I'm not a big curry man myself, but I have eaten in Cinnamon on Union Street a couple of times and thought it was absolute quality.
girl anachronism
Another vote for Spice Dabba, it's mainly south Indian cuisine, it's really full of flavour but without a lot of the grease and extra spice found in most Westernised versions of Indian food. The dosas are top notch. Decent drinks menu too.
Ghostwriter
I'm not a big curry man myself, but I have eaten in Cinnamon on Union Street a couple of times and thought it was absolute quality.Could be a complete rumour - and I don't want to be done for slander - but I heard a while ago that if you go to Cinnamon with a big group of people, they'll try to add extra dishes and drinks on to the bill in the hope that you wont notice. To be fair, I guess a lot of restaurants might try to pull this. Seems it would be a pretty easy way to make a bit of extra cash since the chances of, say, twenty people checking an itemised bill to make sure only what they ordered is listed is unlikely... especially if the beers and naans are flowing! On a slightly cheerier note, I would definitely recommend Jewel in the Crown. I'd also say Nawaabs is a good call for restaurant dining; although I have been less impressed by their home deliveries in the past.
beetlejuice
Jewel in the Crown and Shabaaz are both pretty damn good. I think the BYOB place mentioned above might be Gurkha Kitchen, which isn't Indian, but supposed to be very good. And apparently a few of my friends felt quite ill after going to Spice Dabba, although I've never been there myself. Chris
I always like Light Of Bengal. Cinnamon was great when I went but seems to polarise opinion. Some people love it some people think it's over-rated.
dorkusmalorkus
thanks for all the suggestions so far. Do fancy trying Spice Dabba now!I've heard awful things about Cinnamon but i wouldn't want to slander! I've been there twice, once when it first opened - food was good but a little cramped. Second time we had a table booked which they made us wait for for 25 mins so we went elsewhere. The manager freaked out and started actually pulling my Dad's arm to stop him walking out superb. I think the BYOB affair is the Lahore Karahi on King St (near Safeways). Every time I have been there has ben tremendous, but I have heard that they have a different chef these days.Actually, think on it, it aint BYOB, it is booze-less. But I have typed all this out now, so I aint deleting it.

TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I've had mixed experiences with Cinnamon. The food has usually been quite good, but sometimes we've been stuck on a table that was too cramped, stuck by the toilets or the main thoroughfare for the waiters and waitresses. Hog
Quite like Blue Moon. I thought that Jewel in the Crown was overpriced and overrated.

Graham Knight
I like the Shahbaaz in Rose Street. The owners, Mr Latif and Mr Rafiq, are always there to ensure everything is perfect.I've been going there for over 20 years and highly recommend the Shahbaaz.I will be there late tonight so no Aberdeen Music Stalking!
Luke1976
The Gurkha on George St has kept me going back for years. Every dish tastes different. The prices are reasonable and quality is quite high. Also the owner is ex military so you know the kitchen will be clean and tidy. Never had a better lamb bhuna.
