Guest Tam o' Shantie
Riff Raff gets his balls busted on Hot 97...not sure how I feel about this. Ebro raises some valid questions and Riff doesn't REALLY answer them...but he also does a fairly good job of taking the heat and Ebro just doesn't cut him an ounce of slack. It would be nice if Riff had done a bit more to give some responsible answers on the subject of race & culture etc. but it's not exactly his duty to do so and it's quite clear that he wasn't aware of what was coming his way when he got in the studio. The Riff freestyles - actually obviously freestyling and not just rehashing memorised lines - and Ebro again just isn't having it.
Paranoid Android
I've been completely sleeping on Joey Bada$$. I've had 1999 on my ipod for ages but never listened to it for some reason. Finally sorted that out this morning and I love it.
Murrr
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBf4vvtaCDw So, so good. Picks up right where R.A.P. Music left-off. These guys can't do any wrong, in my eyes, and they're planning a UK tour later this year. Back of the net, etc. This year is starting to pick-up. Freddie Gibbs' first proper album is predictably good. Joey Bada$$ killed it again. Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire kicked it up a notch. I really loved Yeezus for a week, then lost interest. Billy Woods has a new one out with Blockhead which will definitely be awesome. Action Bronson & Harry Fraud. Jesus, son.
Paranoid Android
Been meaning to check out Run The Jewels. I didn't know that Freddie Gibbs' album was out or that Joey Bada$$ had released something new. I need to keep up better.

Jaaakkkeee
Kendrick's album is fantastic. I know this might divide opinions, or I might be the only one with this opinion, but Iggy Azalea is fantastic. I dislike Bounce greatly, but Work, and her older album is v. good. This and Exquire's new thing are too good to be free mixtapes: I really want to give these dudes money for these releases.

The Riff freestyles - actually obviously freestyling and not just rehashing memorised lines - and Ebro again just isn't having it. Took the time to watch this all the way through. Kinda douchey on all fronts. This riff raff kid is clearly not intelligent enough to get to the root of what the guy is saying, and Ebro keeps pushing the topic. Parody or not, he's pretty terrible but I think Ebro is taking himself way too seriously and should at least listen to the guy's stuff before taking issue. Wonder if he'd have the same issue with a black kid doing country music?

SeaOfEnergy
He's pretty under-rated, in my humble. This is one of my favorite verses. You have to sit through a minute or two of the fuck-awful Vinnie Paz grunting and growling his way through the beat, but it's dead good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX04USVRowQTHAT TUNE IS THE MOST EPIC RAP BEAT EVER! to me anyway has the added bonus of being based on a true story, the 2nd verse being about R.A rugged mans father who served in vietnam. jedi mind tricks rule Edited July 26, 2013 by SeaOfEnergy
