brettthain1
Yes. You've cracked it. Thanks for revealing this to me.Any time, pal. Chart music is current music that's popular at the moment, we've established that by now. But if it wasn't for the xfactor, we'd still have a variety of genres coming in. Rock n roll is dying out, but it'll come back in!

Paranoid Android
I saw Earl Sweatshirt and Kendrick Lamar at Primavera Sound this past weekend. I think they might have been the only hip hop acts on the bill. Earl was pretty good, Kendrick was incredible. Definitely in the my top 3 acts of the weekend. He got one of the biggest and most enthusiastic crowds I saw too. Primavera Sound always has good hip hop acts but only ever a handful at most. Hip hop acts don't seem to come here in general very often.

With Jurassic 5, De La Soul and Outkast all touring Europe this summer it feels like a trick was missed.
Paranoid Android
I missed the first 20 mins or so of Earl. I wouldn't describe anything I saw as nonsense or half tunes. There were quite a few I didn't know but overall I enjoyed his performance a lot. Outkast were strongly rumoured and I was disappointed they weren't on the line up at the time it was announced. Looking at their tour dates though I guess it just wasn't possible. They're still touring in the US just now. Jurassic 5 came here for Sonar last year, De La Sould would have been great. It's a pity that Boiler Room didn't include any hip hop acts on their stage. However, nothing would have beat Kendrick.

I left while he was doing Molasses and trying to get the crowd to sing the RZA lines.

Paranoid Android
So what good albums are there from this year? Either it's been a crappy year for hip hop or I've just no been paying attention, or possibly a mix of both. Freddie Gibbs is really the only one that stands out for me. I've been on a big binge of my favourite hip hop albums this week. Does any track on Illmatic ever get old? I'd also forgotten how much I love Supreme Clientele. ca_gere
No idea. I'm very far behind in terms of new releases. If I didn't see it on twitter and it aint readily available on Spotify it's not getting into my lugs these days. I hate myself.

Murrr
Are we posting beasting verses? Because I'm all over that. AZ's on Life's a Bitch is pretty tough to top, imo:- Visualizin the realism of life and actuality Fuck who's the baddest a person's status depends on salary And my mentality is, money orientated I'm destined to live the dream for all my peeps who never made it cause yeah, we were beginners in the hood as five percenters But somethin must of got in us cause all of us turned to sinners Now some, restin in peace and some are sittin in San Quentin Others such as myself are tryin to carry on tradition Keepin the schwepervesence street ghetto essence inside us Cause it provides us with the proper insight to guide us Even though, we know somehow we all gotta go but as long as we leavin thievin we'll be leavin with some kind of dough so, and to that day we expire and turn to vapors me and my capers-ll be somewhere stackin plenty papers Keepin it real, packin steel, gettin high Cause life's a bitch and then you die

I totally dig Yoni/Why?/Clouddead alot. That record is great. This is my favourite track he has been involved in: Also, the Freddie Gibbs/Madlib LP is badass. My favourite hiphop record of the year so far.
