Soda Jerk
Do you want to start a band? Called Archers of Loaf?
Flights
I'd be up for it. As long as we dress like them and have a hat that magically moves between band members.
Soda Jerk
Fuck me, they just really are the best band ever.
Flights
The outro to that song makes me smile from ear to ear.
Stroopy121
Listener – Wooden HeartI have no idea how to describe this. Folk/Rock/Roots Poetry? xxEDIT: I don't care if that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, you owe it to yourself to listen to that video. Woodsinho
It'll never catch on: http://aberdeen-music.com/threads/listener.51856/These guys were one of my highlights from SXSW: Backwoods Payback – MomanthaThey are not dissimilar to Gozu, Suplecs and Dixie Witch. Soda Jerk
I'm exclusively listening to punk rock that is stupidly fast.Pour Habit – SuiticideFast. Silly metal bits. The high pitched vocals are amazing. This is their first album. The second one was weird. Ska bits and shit. Fuck that.Belvedere – 'Twas Hell Said Former ChildTheir album "Fast Forward Eats The Tape" gets the most acclaim, but this one is better in my opinion. Better, heavier, faster, sillier. More good.Strung Out – Twisted By DesignOne of the first albums I bought. I once got punched in the face by the singer as well. A glorious moment. He decided it would be a great idea to jump off the stage and run around like a cunt, and I was right at the front. He used my face as a supporting beam to get off the stage. With his fist. Oh, and this album is ace too.Pulley – 60 Cycle HumThis isn't really mega-fast, but a pretty essential "skate-punk" record. Fun as fuck.Venerea – One LouderI'd not heard this band before. I found it whilst band-surfing on Spotify, on the hunt for more stupid fast punk. This is mint.Kid Dynamite – Shorter, Faster, LouderBest punk rock band.Death Is Not Glamorous – Spring ForwardBest Kid Dyamite copyists.Captain Everything! – Buena Vista Bingo ClubWasn't too into this band when they were around, but this album was definitely their best. Less bubblegum than the other ones.
Adam Easy Wishes
Captain Everything! were great, but I disagree - their first record "Learning to Play With..." was the best.
Soda Jerk
I'm not so keen. I found the first two albums to be a bit overly poppy, and they had ska bits too. I don't tend to go for that. That album above sounds a bit more 'grown up' I guess.
Woodsinho
The Sweetest Thrill - JewelleryDrums and downtuned guitar. Sounds like a slow-mo hybrid of Battles and !!!
davidm
I realise this isn't on Spotify, but I've just discovered these guys. XTC meets Mr Bungle meets god knows what. The video is from 2007 but the song was written in 1984, which I still can't quite believe. Inventive doesn't get anywhere close to covering how good this is. Woodsinho
That is rad. I've heard of them before because Oceansize have always said they were a big influence on them but I've never got round to giving any of their stuff a proper listen. I'm going to have to do that now. Soda Jerk
Capsule – No GhostHoly balls. This is just ridiculous. I have no idea how to describe it. It's got everything. One minute they are doing blast beats, then it goes into some fist-pumping triumphant sing-along chorus. Then it riffs like fuck. Then it goes all stop-start. The time signatures are probably made up. I tried to bob my head along to it, and I got a headache. This is the best thing I've heard in ages.Recommended if you like: fast, riffs, mind bending time changes, triumphant melodies, blast beats, not so fast bits, music, breathing, sandwiches, life, and stuff that is good.Seriously. SRSLY. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- I'm listening to it right now, and when I've finished listening to it, I'm going to listen to it again. If you don't got Spotify. Listen to it on bandcamp and make your life better http://capsule.bandcamp.com/
Woodsinho
Tiger Death Cord by Science Bastard. It's like a punchier Forward Russia, I think. They're called Science Bastard. OF COURSE YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO IT.

Soda Jerk
Shift – SpacesuitMight have posted this before, I can't remember. If you like Quicksand, and quintessentially 90's alt-rock, then this album will rock you. The title track, Spacesuit, is just too good. Woodsinho
Threadsurrection! Only because I found out that Guitar Method by Kid Kilowatt is on Spotify now. One of my favourite albums of all time (as I might have mentioned in some other thread in the past). You owe it to yourself to listen to it if you're into hooky pop-rock riffs.

Soda Jerk
Chickenhawk – Modern BodiesBand from Leeds. They've played up here a couple of times. My old band played with them a ton of times around Leeds. I used to think they were a bit crap. Not heard anything by them for ages. This came out a couple of years ago. It seems BAND GOT GOOD!Riffs and stuff.
