COOPERS SPARKLING ALE

5.8% - AUSTRALIA

Coopers - Age Confirmation

The Coopers story began in a newly established

colony when, after turning his hand to a number

of trades, Thomas Cooper discovered his talent

as a brewer by accident when he created his

first batch of beer as a tonic for his ailing wife

Ann in 1862. Little has changed since. It's still

brewed naturally using the century old top

fermentation method and it still tastes great!

With its famous cloudy sediment and its distinc-

tive balance of malt, hops and fruity characters,

the old 'Red Label' is a tasty slice of history.

Lone Star beer uses the finest hops from the Pacific Northwest with hearty grains from the Central and Northern Plains. Malted barley and corn extract combine to provide Lone Star with nature's finest ingredients for brewing. Lone Star's ingredients give this beer its full natural flavor. The choicest hops lend complexity and aroma to this beer, and its proprietary mashing regimen creates the perfect balance of alcohol, body, and character.

The National Beer of Texas contains 136 calories and 12 grams of carbohydrates per 12 oz. serving at 4.65% ABV. Lone Star beer corrals a lively carbonation level of 2.7 volumes of CO2 for a unique balance of refreshment and taste.

(You also get a little riddle to decipher on the cap (which is a twist off)).

Have you got the coconut cups to serve this in?

Lovely beer this. Tried it in Holland. It's a less sweet alternative to the likes of Kriek and the other fruit beers.

HONEY BROWN

Honey Brown | honeybrownlager.com

Man first brewed with honey more than 2,000

years ago, and Dundee Brewing Company have

been brewing Honey Brown the same way since

capping the first bottle in 1994. In that time,

this beer has filled the brewery trophy room

with a small army of awards, including a Gold

Medal at the World Beer Cup, the Olympics of

beer competition. Pure Manitoba White Clover

Honey is used to produce a great-tasting,

medium-bodied lager. This isnt your watered-

down light beer from college. Nor is it a heavy

craft beer. Honey Brown pours right smack dab

in the middle.

QUILMES

4.9% - ARGENTINA

www.quilmes.com.ar

Argentina’s favourite beer comes from the

capital, Buenos Aires. It is a 4.9% lager style

beer with a very distinguishable taste.

The brewery was founded in 1888 in Quilmes,

Buenos Aires Province, by Otto Bemberg, a

German immigrant. By the 1920s it was already

the most popular beer in Buenos Aires. Since

then, it has become something of a national

symbol. It sponsors the Argentina national foot-

ball team, and the colours of its labels are

Argentina’s light blue and white.

KNOW YOUR BEER #38

ABBAYE DES ROCS BRUNE

9% - BELGIUM

www.abbaye-des-rocs.com

Pure malt beer, with no added sugar. The taste

is linked to double fermentation, precise quant-

ities of seven types of malt, and the mixtures of

three kinds of hops (Belgian, German & Czech).

Its colour is a deep majestic red. It confirms

the initial impression in the first mouthful, with

a sharp body balanced with a certain fruitiness.

It frees itself on the palate and develops an

impressive depth of taste. The foretaste is very

prolonged because of its rich and unctuous

development throughout the mouth.
