Huw
Hi Guys,Just heard this on Vic Galloway's show, let me know what you think? Is thew singer the guy who does the sound in Snafu? Voice reminds me of Matt Bellamy in the chorus.
stevealex35
Love this track. Great melody and great production!
Monster Zero
Caught them for the first time in Drummonds the other week, was well impressed, this is a great song. They have a different sound for this area, quite unique. Singer has a lot of the Scott Walker/Billy MacKenzie about his style, it's cool. kingofdeon
See many bands coming and going in Drummonds. But i'd have to say Stanley are the best local one i've seen. Were amazing a month or so back...
Localboylost
Wow! Need to see them live, never heard of them before, cheers for this!
Frosty Jack
They really are a step or two above practically anything else just now. Quality.Incidentally, I'm not sure about the whole "Just heard this on Vic Galloway" story. Presumably 'Kittiwake' is the record company? Cos you could have just said so... Sam 45
Yeah Kittiwake are putting the record out. No point in hiding it lads!
jon
Is this a different version to the one on the 45-a-side comp? I actually prefer the original, it's a belter.

jon
Don't get me wrong, it's still good, but there is something brilliantly other-worldly about the version on the comp. I love it for not being what I expected at all.
grapeape
Don't get me wrong, it's still good, but there is something brilliantly other-worldly about the version on the comp. I love it for not being what I expected at all.i completely agree i thought the original version of this song was amazing but this one doesnt seem to take me in the same. The vocals in the second chorus are just not as good as in the original. Steve has an amazing voice i dont think i have heard anyone better in aberdeen. I just dont understand why these guys are only getting somewhere now, i heard them play this song live 5 years ago i think, back then i thought they would push on, i guess good things come to those who wait! beetlejuice
I unfortunately haven't heard the original on the compilation, but I love this new version... very ethereal and catchy, a great example of the pure talent Aberdeen can produce
Christy
Good song, nice video (apart from the comical attempt at drum-miming), but one little thing grates with me...why the shill account? Why not just come out and say 'Stanley are releasing a single through our label, what do you think?'. The implication that you happened to stumble upon the song on Vic's show is misleading and unnecessary.Cracking tune though. I don't know the original, but I'd be surprised if it betters this one. I assume they're just posting the same disingenuous nonsense on a number of forums and have just copy and pasted it onto here. Entirely unnecessary when Stanley are a local band who seem to get generally good feedback on here anyway.
lord summerisle
Thanks for the kind words about our band, folks. Apologies for the style of the threadf, but if it wasn't for Kittiwake you'd probably never hear about what we're up to because we're our own worst enemies when it comes to promotion! As for the version of Monkeys on the 45 a side sampler - oops! (ssh, don't tell the record label!).Should probably point out that Kittiwake are also putting out stuff by Indian Red Lopez and also Weather Barn (formerly known as Cast Of The Capital) - pretty good for a label from Southern England! Alkaline
Absolutely fantastic Very nicely paced and has a good vibe to it as well. Hope the rest of the album is along the lines of this one!
Moose
Its right good actually. Does it remind anyone of Elbow at all?
Christy
Yes, Elbow were who I had in mind. Not the vocals, obv, but the rest of it.
Moose
Stanley's EP launch is tomorrow night in Drummonds. Weather Barn and Amy Sawyers are also playing. Thats about all I know!!! Will be a great night so please come along. There certainly wont be any inhumane butchering of whales.
