A message to all the folks who contributed but weren't mentioned in the article: don't be disheartened! I seriously love all the tracks on the album, and it was very hard to narrow it down to just a handful to feature in the article. Aberdeen music has never sounded so great

Good shout, students would snap this sort of thing up! Have you also thought about getting it online and selling it via Bandcamp or anything (assuming it's WAVs or FLACs artists have sent you and not mp3s)?

Uni closes on the 17th December, so you'd have to be pretty sharpish. but if you give me a shout once they're there, I can get in touch with the Student radio DJs and ask them to mention it on air. Plus, any unsold ones can simply be taken back up to LBS.

You could still covert them to WAV. Sure, the quality's not going to get any better but burning it to CD is essentially doing the same thing.

To be honest I don't get the whole mp3, mp4, WAV thing.......cassettes are about the top of my comprehension level (and even there I'm a bit confused).

Bigsby is right there actually, it could still work. Although Bandcamp pride themselves in offering different quality levels so that "audiophiles" can get their fix - someone might complain if they download the WAV format and it sounds like an mp3

But if you do decide to do it Alan, it's pretty simple

Haha you should totally do the cassettes. They would either sell incredibly quickly, or would be sitting there for years like that one in the local compilations section in One Up... I forget what it's called.

i recorded our toon in full surround sound dolby 9.1 with quadrophonic accordion reverb (you can just hear it in the back ground if you crank it up to 12 on the dansetta)

Exactly, I would rather have a nice CD that I can look at than a download. Part of the fun of this for me was to contribute to something that would physically exist in the real world and I could have in my CD collection.

I remember one year a nice lady came into the shop and bought one for her grandson's Christmas. That was nice.

Plus I like the idea of people copying them for their friends, like little Christmas presents.

I usually end up getting one for my mum as well as she likes that sort of thing. I like how it's limited runs as well. I honestly think it would be worthwhile doing it regularly outside of the festivities as it would be a nice way of getting a few bands some extra exposure. As long as it covers costs and bands don't expect any money for it.
