Woodend Barn
DEAN FRIEDMAN - Saturday 18 September 8pm - Woodend Barn, BanchoryThis Saturday 18 September 8pm, chart topping recording artist and pop-icon Dean Friedman will be appearing at Banchorys Woodend Barn as part of his 2010 UK tour.He will perform solo, on guitar and keyboards, revisiting classic tunes from throughout his 30 year recording career, including familiar radio hits Lucky Stars, Lydia, McDonalds Girl, Ariel and Woman of Mine. He will also play a selection of tunes from his more recent CDs, including the critically acclaimed, Squirrels in the Attic comedy songs for adults as well as material from his seventh studio album Submarine Races which will be released in the next few weeks. The summer of 1977 marked Dean Friedman's entry into pop consciousness with the enormous success of his infectious hit single Ariel, a quirkily irresistible pop song. A year later, Friedman struck again, this time with a magical duet, performed with singer Denise Marsa, entitled Lucky Stars which zoomed to the top of the UK singles charts, hotly followed by Lydia, Rocking Chair and Woman of Mine.Although Friedman's next single, McDonald's Girl was officially banned by the BBC for mentioning the name of the well known fast food restaurant in its chorus, the irrepressible pop song has recently been covered by a number of acclaimed new bands including Canadian group Barenaked Ladies and American band The Blenders.During the '80's, Friedman also turned his hand to composing and producing music soundtracks for TV and film including the hit British TV series, Boon. Other credits include Nick Arcade for Nickelodeon and Eerie Indiana for the NBC and the soundtrack to the underground cult horror film classic, I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle. In 2008, Friedman also produced and hosted the popular BBC Radio Scotland series 'Dean Friedman's Real American Folk', sonic postcards which portrayed the sounds, the spirit and the stories of the Hudson RiverValley region in New York (and beyond).Dont miss this great opportunity to see Dean Friedman live at Woodend Barn!
