160,000 for the Chief Executive makes me feel a bit sick considering the financial strain that the Local Authorities are putting on frontline workers salaries (yes, I am jealous and bitter considering my wages won't be increasing anytime soon!) and the general cuts in services.

160,000 for the Chief Executive makes me feel a bit sick considering the financial strain that the Local Authorities are putting on frontline workers salaries (yes, I am jealous and bitter considering my wages won't be increasing anytime soon!) and the general cuts in services.

But it's only by paying that sort of salary that you can get the most talented people to do the job. Well, at least for a bit anyway, until the greedy mercenaries get a better offer somewhere else.
