Hey all

Lookin for decent pubs interested in singer/songwriter acoustic/bluegrass gig by touring musician from the Appalachian - fab performer - will be in Aberdeen for another event and had some free nights 29th Sept-2ndOct but can't find anywhere apart from Blue Lamp, Lemon tree and Tunnels on the internet...and they'll all booked it seems.

Any names contacts, tips muc appreciated - this guy's finger-pickin has to be seen to be believed, the real deal!!

Cheers

Thanks Alan..will give those places a shot. Every night not working is an expensive night  so anything will help. He's also a master Appalachian storyteller..wonder if any arts places or libraries might be interested? He was one of the headliners in the Edinburgh Int Storytelling fest last year

one last plea - any ideas on reasonable city centre accommodation that's not a dive/fleapit? like a 3 star, say?

:help:

Try Cellar 35. Nice little venue, very much suited to acoustic gigs.

01224 640483 (that's for the Noose & Monkey pub, but it owns Cellar 35 and handles the bookings).

You could try contacting some of the local promoters.....Interesting Music Promotions, or Vocoustics might have a support slot going. They both cover folk/roots/electronica/experimental, and can be contacted on this site (in the promoters forums bitty).

I think we need a new small acoustic venue (maybe not exclusively acoustic). Anybody got any ideas? Space?

Cellar 35, as mentioned previously. I enjoyed that Castanets gig at the Malt Mill, too. The East Neuk?

Belmont Social Club? The Carlton? (OK, maybe body armour might be needed there). Upstairs at the Frigate? Old King's Highway? The Blue Lamp upstairs bit was fine for Michael Chapman.

Upstairs at the Old Aberdeen Kilau?????

Downstairs at that church hall between the library and HMT (think it's St Mark's?).

Somewhere new..and permanent to put a PA in..and nicer than any of the above. I assume you have time on your hands to think about it!

Hiya,

Give us a shout at the Tilted Wig on Castle Street,

We'll be looking to book for around the time you're thinking.

Regards.

Hey thanks, will do

Just for anyone interested, the Musa isn't paying for live music any more, maybe sometime again in the future. Just heard this yeasterday. Must be the econony, I suppose.

Still looking for a decent central B&B pref with wi-fi. Getting horrendous quotes from the hotel (even the Carmelite!)..way over 100 per night for a room for 1 person..must be better value than that!!

Cheers again all
