music composition software?

Recommended Posts

Guest Tam o' Shantie

anyone using music composition software? what i'm looking for is something that will allow me to arrange music using stock midi samples purely for demo purposes which will later be carried out using overdubs and assistance from fellow musicians who can actually play the real thing...

so basically i need to be able to draw the midi notes or play them on a midi keyboard using onboard stock midi sounds?

Try out the free demo of FL studio. You can also download the full version or Reaper which is free but nags (inb4 relationship joke). Theres alot of free VST addons that work with repear too. If you dont know shit about DAWs theres heaps of how-to vids on the tube.

You may also want to purchase some kind of interface if your computers onboard soundcard is sh*te.

I would recommend ableton. It can do everything you want and more. There are various "toys" like keyboards and midi controler that give you ableton light for free so you can try a cut down version before you buy the full version and if you don't like it, these "toys" can be used with any other decent package.
