Happy Birthday.... Telecaster!

Recommended Posts

Still hasn't been bettered either. You could say that Strats and Les Pauls are as good as a Tele, albeit at different things, but you still can't go wrong with a Tele.

For some reason I don't have one at the moment, need to rectify that soon

I still plan to get an American Special later this year. Think I'm about halfway there. Selling my Ibanez would help.

Cheers for that Sam.......makes me feel ancient, too! :)

Sorry Alan..... but I'm only 5 years younger than a Tele (how old do I feel!!!)

A no-nonsense guitar, great for anything, a true workhorse, and heard through every genre of music since it was introduced, on some of the best recordings ever!.....they are superb !

(I'll ALWAYS have a Tele)

I think you're underestimating just how many genres of music there are out there. I can't imagine they'll be used in any form of extreme metal. death/grind/black etc.

The boy from Slipknot uses one - though I'm not sure what category they fall into.

I'm sure there are thooooooosans of music genres and sub-genres, but broadly speaking, the Tele has been used in a wide and diverse range of styles.

As Sam rightly points out, a great versatile, workhorse of a guitar. Jimmy Page used a Lester for pose on stage, but used a Tele quite a lot in recording. It's no secret that the the Stairway solo was recorded on a Tele.

Most guitarists I know have a Tele that they just won't part with.

I would say its a safe bet.....

or can you name one where a Tele hasn't been used ?

I wouldn't bet on it (being a chicken), but I doubt if it's been used much on these...

Barbershop Quartets

Songs of the humpback whale

Russian Orthodox Choral favourites

Gregorian chants

Les Paul fan club music albums

Of course people ocassionally use them for metal (John 5 anyone?) but they're not really ideal. Just about every other genre where a guitar is used however they are superb in their unmodified 2 single coil form.

I fucking miss my Telecaster. It was a beautiful machine.

I think someone on here, the singer from Headlight perhaps, now owns it. Jammy git.
