Red Note Ensemble presents 'A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle' - Saturday 5 June 7.30pm - Woodend Barn - Banchory

Music, humour and inebriation are all on show this Saturday as Scotland's inimitable contemporary musical virtuosos, Red Note take to Woodend Barns stage at 7.30pm. Performing Bill Sweeneys 90minute version of Hugh MacDiarmids epic poem, A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle, Red Note guarantee the audience a fun and thought provoking musical romp.

Set to music of huge imagination and vibrancy by Glasgow composer Bill Sweeney, this is a brilliant, multi-faceted setting of one of the landmark Scots poems of the twentieth century. MacDiarmids infamously thrawn narrator explores the state of Scotland from an emotionally and intellectually charged perspective.

Sweeneys galloping, madcap setting is by turns funny and profound, employing Red Notes multi-talented musicians, singers and narrator to sensational effect.

A strong statement from a muscular new team, brimming from the best musicians in the business
