EnkaiScreamer
does anyone know of any cheap pitch shifter/whammy effects? Suitable to retune a guitar

TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Have we not discussed this before? And that retuning a guitar using a pitch shifter is the worst idea ever?Yep, it's all here:http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/equipment/59922-wanting-mulit-fx-pitch-shifter-whammy-pedal.html
Craig ybgiR
If you string your guitar correctly, and stretch all the strings pretty well before tuning up for a gig/jam, then it shouldn't really go THAT out of tune, If you're slipping out of tune that frequently, just have a second guitar on standby already tuned, easier than arsing around with a pedal that won't sound any good! Guest davetherave
pitch shifted guitarsWhammys and pitch shifters are ok for single note stuff, but hopeless for chords. The only devices that can shift whole guitar tunings and still sound decent are the Roland VG systems, the VG8 can be had for about 150 on fleabay . See here for more info Roland U.S. - VG-8: V-Guitar System

imprinted
If you're genuinely wanting to use a pedal to do lots of different drop tunings then this is the only one that's actually designed for that purpose;MORPHEUS DROPTUNE - Morpheus Droptune

Hog
Baritone or 7 string (or even 8 string)Tuning down with a pedal....not so much. But well, it might be the kind of "tone" you're looking for.
