Graham
Has anyone have any experience with these? From reading up on them they are meant to be like a solid state jcm 800 or something. I know it won't sound as nice as a valve amp but as far as solid state heads go are they any good?
Soda Jerk
My DSL broke midway through a tour and I had to use one of these as a replacement for the last 5 days. Considering that I get a bit grumpy when my guitar doesn't sound right, I had a face like thunder for the rest of the week. I did not enjoy using it at all. It sounded very much like the clean channel on a Marshall MG series. Very thin and trebley and no real low end presence whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend taking the punt on one, unless it is very cheap.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I had a try of one about 10 years ago, and I would say that it is a fair sounding solid state amp. For any gain, I would put a distortion pedal in front of it.
