Running every Tuesday like clockwork, the Snafu Comedy Club has managed to carve itself a wee niche in the ever-busy weekday-things-to-do-that-arent-clubbing market, which before it came along primarily consisted of going to the cinema, going bowling, or getting tanked on top of the St Nicholas centre. All of which are great in their own right, but lets face it, theres only so many films to see, only so many strikes to hit and only so many times you can get blind drunk outside WH Smith and wake up at 3 in the morning with your house keys missing and half your eye-brow shaved off (true story).

Fortunately, there is a never ending supply of funny people. Every week the organisers of the snafu comedy club trawl the national comedy circuit to find those funny people, lures them up north and then watches as a group of punters split their side in the ONLY weekly comedy club in Aberdeen. With a constantly rotating line-up that reads like a whos-who of local and national talent, its easy to see why the club has received universally great write-ups and near-constant capacity crowds.

Ok, so It sounds good but surely a comedy night with big names must break the bank? Nah pal. Its 4 EVERY week, regardless of whether theyre a national sell-out act or a local guy trying to supplement his dole cheque. To make it even sweeter, students get in for 2. 2! What night-out can you think of that gives you a whole evenings banter for just 2? I mean for that you can only catch 1/3 of a film, play just half a game of bowling and afford just half a bottle of cider probably for the best, that one though. Nobody wants to lose an eyebrow

Start of December comedy-a-rama!

Raymond Mearns and Tony Littler

Raymond Mearns - As a regular contributor to BBC Radio Scotland's "The Fred Macauley Show" and with a number of television credits and a BAFTA award winning short film behind him, Raymond Mearns is now one of the most sought after entertainers in Scotland today.

At this time the exceptional talents of this Glasgow comedian can be seen regularly at clubs including Jongleurs, The Stand and many more.

He is acknowledged as one of the finest comedians in the land whether in the role of compere or doing live sets of up to two hours long

Tonight (8th December) sees the return of the unruly Reverend Obadiah Steppenwolfe III, alongside Carly Baker, Barry McDonald and Billy Kirkwood. It's definitely worth a shout catching these guys!

Winner of the 2003 Chortle Award for Best Breakthrough Act and a star of BBC2's Live Floor Show, The Reverend is not your average holy man. With his heavy metal music, black leather, sunglasses and love of hot tub bible classes, he cuts a pretty intimidating figure. A true two-fisted Tennessee trailer-trash TV evangelist, he makes the sinners swing from the rafters.

Having managed to offend virtually every religious group and been barred from most places of worship, The Reverend has taken to spreading the word of the Lord on the BBC, as well as around comedy clubs all over the UK. He was a regular on both series of BBC Scotland's Live Floor Show, for which he was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA best newcomer award.

His 2003 Edinburgh Fringe show with Frankie Boyle provoked massive, diverse reactions and was simultaneously hailed as the most exciting and original as well as the most offensive and dangerous show on the fringe. This show led to The Rev and Frankie being commissioned to write on the Channel 4 Jimmy Carr vehicle, 'Distraction' and its' subsequent re-commission.

2006 saw The Reverend writing for Channel 4's '8 Out Of 10 Cats' and Channel 4 Radio as well as for BBC TWO's 'Mock The Week'. He stole the show at the Reading Festival, his festival debut, and his Edinburgh Festival Show, 'What Would Charlie Sheen Do?' received 5 star reviews.

An interactive comedy experience in which these two veterans of the Edinburgh Fringe amaze & amuse in equal measure. Lightening-fast comedians, they deliver surprising, sometimes shocking but always brilliantly clever, unpredictable, very, very, funny, laugh-out-loud comedy!

In short, it's improv.IMPROVED!

Patrick started gigging in 2002, and has played virtually every comedy club in Scotland as well as many in England, including The Comedy Store Leicester Square, Jongleurs Battersea, The Buzz Club, The Cellar Bar in Dublin as well as clubs in Newcastle ,Manchester, and Torquay.

The year 2003 seen Patrick reach the national finals of the Channel 4 competition "So you think you're funny" at the Edinburgh Festival, and a whole series of gig at the world famous Edinburgh Fringe. Patrick also performed at various "Late & Live " venues during the festival.

2004 saw Patrick become a Jongleurs regular with regular spots in Glasgow and Edinburgh ,in April of this year Patrick enjoyed the ultimate experience of appearing on stage on Broadway in New York, in a the highly acclaimed "Matt McGinn Tribute Concert.

2005 seen Patrick promote and compere a very successful show at the Leicester Comedy Festival, as well as performing in a variety of places from The Hebrides Island, Torquay and Melton Mowbray, again demonstrating the universal appeal of his humour. The Big Smoke of London was again a calling point for Patrick with gigs at Jongleurs in Camden and Battersea, proving he has Capital Appeal.

Patrick has also hosted and presented a nightly TV chat show on regional TV station, Thistle TV, where he interviewed personalities from sport, politics and comedy. He also has a regular sell out gig in his hometown "An Evening With Patrick Rolink and Friends", and also organised the yearly Lanarkshire Comedy Festival, which has brought top comedy acts to many towns in the Lanarkshire area.

In addition to his comedy work, Patrick regularly comperes events, most notably the DVD "Lord Of The Wing" a film about football legend Jimmy Johnstone, which has so far sold in excess of 60,000 copies. He has twice compered the biggest St Patrick's Day festival in Scotland, and also participated in "The Stand-Up 150" in 2003, in which he and other comedians entered the Guinness Book of Records. Patrick also appeared in, and won an edition of the BBC quiz, "The Weakest Link"

Patrick has also worked on stage at the Scottish Royal Academy of Drama & Music, demonstrating that his brand of humour crosses all barriers, and is an excellent after dinner speaker, much in demand simply because he can deliver a setto please and delight any audience.

With diversity that knows no bound Patrick also reached number 17 in the UK charts in 2002 as a backing singer on the single "Best Day Of Our Lives".

Quentin has been writing comedy since 1998, with a host of TV and radio credits to his name. In 2003, the performing bug bit deep, and he ventured into the world of stand-up comedy. He has not stopped gigging since, and in a relatively short space of time has performed at many venues throughout the UK with much success.

He has so far taken part in two Guinness Book of Records attempts, namely the Stand-Up 150 for the most comedians on stage ever in 2003, and One Big Laugh for the longest comedy gig ever in 2005. He has also appeared as a guest in numerous shows at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe.

2004 saw him make two TV appearances on local TV station Lanarkshire TV. Quentin described these appearances, which were witnessed by 6 viewers in the whole of the UK (and who were probably outnumbered by the TV station staff) as "The absolute pinnacle of my comedy career, if not my life!"

2005 saw him appear in the Leicester Mercury Comedian Of The Year Competition. He also was part of the successful Leicester Comedy Festival "In Ur Face Comedy" show featuring Scottish comedy legends Kirsty Moss, Patrick Rollink, and Perrier Award nominee Parrot.

From Thurso to Torquay. Quentin's youthful energy, likeable stage persona, and excellent material has won him many fans and excellent reviews. When he's not performing he likes nothing more than working on other writing commitments or causing trouble with letters to newspapers under false names! However, it must be said that Quentin prides himself on original and clean material which any audience can warm to.
