Dude, how can you not have heard of Second Life?? It was everywhere a couple of years ago, was going to be the next big thing.*

*This is the first time I've ever heard of it...

The only reason i knew about it was due to computing magazines and websites, didn't really hear much about it in general press, except for a few small things.

It's really not worth bothering with, kinda like the Sims but in real time, the travelling is a nightmare, everything costs money, the initial free start up is crap and if you really want to have an experience of something like that best to use Sony's home virtual world on the PS3.

A few of my mates play it, it's basically a chance for total losers to have a new life where they are total heroes and all popular and shit.

Don't be ridiculous.

There's no way you've got mates.

Late pass bro...this shit was big in the news for a while because some guy cheated on his real life wife by inserting his pink pixellated cock into a pink pixellated vagina on Second Life...kinda like those Japanese porn videos you like to watch.

Then the 'irreverant' section of the country's media like Radio 2 and The One Show caught on to twitter and stuff and started talking about them instead (in fact, in the history timeline of young/hip/'everyman' technology uttered by the likes of Terry Wogan, Second Life was somewhere between iPods/Blogs and Facebook).

A few of my mates play it, it's basically a chance for total losers to have a new life where they are total heroes and all popular and shit.

Since my life is like that anyway, I wonder what would it be like for me?

It was routinely reported in the whackier sections of national newspapers a couple of years back. Having been intrigued I logged on and found it to be pretty pointless. The idea was that real currency could be converted into in-game currency and vice versa. A few people got really successful inside the game, and therefore, in real life.
