ANDY WHITE

A welcome return to Aberdeen for Belfast-born and now Melbourne-based singer songwriter Andy White to support the release of his 10th album Songwriter this Autumn.

Recorded in Vancouver, Canada with members of Po' Girl, the Be Good Tanyas, and Neko Case's band, it's a new, rootsier musical direction for Andy, and reflects writing collaborations he has been working on for the past few years. The band also features virtuoso pianist Radoslav Lorkovic, who will tour the UK with Andy this coming October. There are songs co-written with Canadians Allison Russell (Po' Girl), Stephen Fearing (Blackie and the Rodeo Kings), Australian writer Sean Sennett and one-man Scots hit factory Stuart Crichton.

Autumn also sees the release of '21st Century Troubadour', Andy's collected on the road tour journals, scheduled for publication in October by Lagan Press.

His colourful career includes a stint alongside Tim Finn as one third of folk super trio ALT, appearances at WOMAD festivals all around the world, collaborating with Peter Gabriel, and winning the prestigious Hot Press Songwriter of the Year award. Best known for songs such as James Joyces Grave and Religious Persuasion, Andy combines a pop sensibility with social commentary, once earning him the nickname Belfasts Bob Dylan.

Whimsical, charming, double-bass-inflected folk-pop with buckets of soul & unexpected melodic twists (Vic Galloway, Radio Scotland)

a multi-skilled musician with an extraordinary deftness of touchone of Edinburghs most cherished possessions (The Scotsman, On the Radar)

Understated but intriguing balladrybreaking down the listeners expectations with unusual chord changes and cute multi-syllable rhymes (live review, the Skinny)
