Frosty Jack
Not quite the same, but I saw the International Space Station flying overhead tonight.
Graham Knight
last night's aurora - pics fromHere are a couple of pictures of last night's aurora. I have copied these from the Stargazers website which is an excellent source for information and reports of visual sightings. A couple of pics from Aberdeen and another two taken from much further south at Kelso.www.aberdeen-music.com/galleries/showimage.php?i=16857&catid=member&imageuser=5210http://www.aberdeen-music.com/galleries/showimage.php?i=16855&catid=member&imageuser=5210http://www.aberdeen-music.com/galleries/showimage.php?i=16856&c=member&imageuser=5210
Graham Knight
The kp index was quite low on Monday night but enhanced enough for the Aurora to be seen as far south as Kelso. This is what the March 1st event looked like at Fairbanks in Alsaka - quite spectacular.http://www.aberdeen-music.com/galleries/showimage.php?i=16858&c=3159
Skacel
Saw this photo in a magazine the other day, thought I'd share it with the resident stargazers.
Graham Knight
The magnetic index is quite high and a weak aurora was visible about half an hour ago. It may come back and be a bit stronger later tonight. You nned to be away from street lighting and look to the North - North East. This is a link to the map showing the latest auroral ovals as tracked by satellite.http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/pmap/index.html
Chris
I went out at 8.30 but could only see a very faint glow which was a bit disappointing.
framheim
i was out earlier trying to photograph it from the war memorial in stoney but the fog rolled in. it was looking pretty promising too.i did manage to get a decent picture of Stonehaven harbour though before the fog started coming in: http://davidofficerphotography.co.uk/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=26:photo-of-the-day-stonehaven-harbour-at-night&Itemid=60
Chris
Looks like there could be a good chance of an aurora display tonight if anyone's interested. Missed it last night but the map's getting redder and the area's getting closer to the UK as the night draws in: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/pmap/pmapN.html
Graham Knight
This has been the third night running for pretty good visual aurorae. This live wecam in Sweden is a good indicator. When the display is strong in Sweden it is likely to be seen from Aberdeen. Sunday night's aurora was very strong and seen as far south as Yorkshire.www.auroraskystation.com/live-camera/9/

Though apparently it was so bright it was turning the clouds green!

Mr Owl PhD
Not quite meteors or aurora or anything, but did anyone see the nacreous clouds on Sunday afternoon? I was really amazed - never seen them before:http://www.spaceweather.com/http://spaceweather.com/gallery/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=74461http://spaceweather.com/gallery/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=74460
