The First ever jazz season at the Woodend Barn

The Woodend Barn, Banchory, will host its very first a season of jazz this August, with three electrifying evenings of contemporary jazz, funk and soul.

First up on Saturday 1 August is the Aberdonian jazz drummer and composer Patrick Kunka, presenting a transatlantic project featuring some of the top students from Boston's Berklee College of Music. Expect an energetic mixture of hard-swinging and cutting-edge contemporary jazz!!!

They will be followed by a double bill of vibrant and creative evening of jazzy funk and soul with Groove Academy and the Stavanger University Jazz Ensemble (also known as Fair Fist Funk on Friday 7 August.

To round off this exciting month of jazz at the Barn, the Brigitte Beraha Trio, an imaginative vocal-led Modern Jazz Ensemble will perform on Sunday 30 August.

"Brigitte Beraha is a young multilingual singer-songwriter with alert jazz instincts and a lot of promise... She's a skilful writer of patiently curling, subtly resolved tunes." The Guardian

As a special introduction to this summer season of jazz at the Barn, concert goers buying tickets for two jazz events will receive complimentary tickets to the third jazz concert.
