not normally a genre a care about at all, but for whatever your reasons, what are your favourite pop songs?

Off the top of my head, and mostly for nostalgic purposes, I love:

Duran Duran - Ordinary World

Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite

Seal - Kiss From A Rose

Richard Marx - Hazard

Michael Jackson - all of Thriller and Bad albums

Running in the Family - Level 42

Long Hot Summer - The Style Council (gayest video of all time though)

It Takes a Worried Man - Devo

You Can Call Me Al - Paul Simon

Summertime - Will Smith

Jammin' - Stevie Wonder

Workin' Day and Night - Michael Jackson

Street Life - Randy Crawford/The Crusaders

Tons more but I can't think off the top of my head.

Depeche Mode - Shake The Disease, Everything Counts.

Aha - Take On Me, The Living Daylights, Stay On These Roads, Hunting High and low

Duran Duran - Anything by Duran Duran.

Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power of Love.

Don't ask me about the 90s, I was in a big cave full of lazers and a phat sound system.

Anything by Queen.

Songwise, totally - but they're kinda borderline as I think of them as rock, even if they have ridiculousy pop moments.

I guess it's the difference between a pop song and a pop band, so my fault for being too ambiguous in the original post.

So on that note I would also say 80's Yes (Famously 'owner of a lonely heart', but also other songs from '90125' and 'Big Generator').

And hell yeah to Tom Petty. Love his stuff.

Pop by N*Sync and Something Kinda Ooo by Girls Aloud.

I completely agree with Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy and Paul Simon too, my Dad used to play them all the time when I was little and they remind me of driving up to see my Grandma on the first day of the summer holidays :)

yeah those are pretty epic as well. All produced by trevor Horn, who also did the 80's Yes stuff and Kiss from a Rose by Seal. His shit sounded massive. I'm a sucker for that huge ambient synthy 80s sound. Sometimes.
