Doesn't seem a happy week at all on these boards.

Don't know about crying, but uplifting shit would include:

  • Weak And Powerless by A Perfect Circle (Thirteenth Step)

  • The Noose by A Perfect Circle (Thirteenth Step)

  • Farewell Note To This City by Converge (Petitioning The Empty Sky)

  • Further by Cult Of Luna (The Beyond)

  • Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) by Deftones (Around The Fur)

  • Pink Maggit by Deftones (White Pony)

  • In Lieu by Icarus Line (Mono)

  • Holy Trinity Church Student Bar by Palehorse (Gee, That Ain't Swell)

  • Sun Starved Day by Palehorse (Gee, That Ain't Swell)

Personally, I think it's a cool list. Maybe others would have a different opinion, but that was what I came up with at a rough glance through files on my comp.

Meh.

Apart from Joy Division, I disagree with everyone (sorry)

Listen to Shellac - 1000 Hurts. Honestly, it's like snarling red medicine for the soul. Highlights have to be:

Prayer to God ("There are two people here and I want you to kill them. Her she can go quitely by disease or a blow to the base of the neck where her necklaces close. Him just fucking kill him, I don't care if it hurts. Yes I do, I want it to, fucking kill him but first")

Canaveral ("Calling canaveral I won't say his name, he could've had anyone. What do you think could have made him stoop so low. What do you think could make him stick his hands in my life. Like to put him up there in one, blow him up in space. He'd fertilise the rice in China, with the cinders of his remains")

Shoe Song ("Do you get the same jokes as me? Do you get the jokes the same as me? I remember the first kiss, don't remember the last.")

Rant over. Man I love that album. It's so good without the dark days too.

Bright Eyes - Lover I don't have to love.

Life's no storybook and all.

Shit, Bright Eyes, Early Faint, Rilo Kiley, Cursive...anything on the Saddle Creek label will do.

also:

"Hurt" (Cash or 'Nails, they're both good)

"My Angel Rocks back and Forth" -Four Tet

"N.Y. Hotel" -The Knife

"There is a Light that Never Goes Out"- The Smiths

Early Cure, Cannibal Corpse, Kevin"Bloody" Wilson

(Warning the last two suggestions may be in jest).

:(

The district sleeps alone - Postal Service

Street Spirit - Radiohead

Somewhere a clock is ticking - Snowpatrol

Colourblind - Counting Crows

Note: Avoid any 'shared' song... ie: Songs you both sung along to together. It'll make you feel even shittier.

None of those are vengeful... for vengeful.

Muse: Hyper Music

Muse: Deadstar.

I dig Muse for my vengeful feelings.

Lindsay' date=' we'll have a girl's night in soon ;([/quote']

I forgot to add "Ceremony" or "Regret" by New Order and wanted to agree with your Postal Service suggestion, although Clark Gable was my "Shit, it's time to break up song". That song sums up my sometimes shitty attitude to relationships.

I hate the shared song thing. My girlfriend once told me there was a Depech Mode song that amde her think of me, and I got miffed because it can't listen to the song without feeling embarrased.

Hate to be an arse, but this is a common mistake. It was Michael Andrews who did this version, Gray Jules only featured on it. Although many may disagree that Jules was the main person on it due to him doing vocals.

Cool track though, far better than the Tears For Fears version.

Oh, and back on topic, No Surprises by Radiohead.

What a good boy - Barenaked Ladies...love that song

The one from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, the Brother Bear song last night made me weep...how sad.

Iris - (very obvious one), any song that makes me feel lonely and I'm crying at it. well...all the songs that can be classed as both 'depressing' and 'moving'...yip!
