Tetraplegic? Paraplegic I've heard of. Quadraplegic, OK. What the hell is tetraplegic? You're at it.

"The condition is also termed tetraplegia. Both terms mean "paralysis of four limbs"; tetraplegia is more commonly used in Europe than in the US. In 1991, when the American Spinal Cord Injury Classification system was being revised, it was recommended that the term tetraplegia be used to improve consistency ("tetra", like "plegia", has a Greek root, whereas "quadra" has a Latin root)"

I know this because one of my former staff in this condition described himself as being tetraplegic (motorbike accident).

Dave was a great guy, so shame on me for mentioning it in the list - even if it was in jest.

Also, cutbacks across Scotland will soon result in the use of Faculties instead of Subjects... meaning i'll possibly be teaching Design & Tech and Computing alongside Business Education, under the 'Technologies' umbrella. Or a PE Teacher will be teaching HE (!), under the 'Health and Wellbeing' umbrella. Kids (and teachers!) will have to get used to this ?(

I thought the faculties had already been implemented? I'm sure Aboyne has them nowadays, or at least for "humanities", I think it's called.

Many schools across Scotland already have them in place, many don't. We've been having 'consultation' (ha!) meetings over the last year about them.

To me it just seems like overstretching the workload of teachers who are maybe only specialised in one subject and therefore potentially damaging the learning of the pupils in the long run. Surely kids are better off learning from those directly in the know of what they are talking about.

In theory subject specific teachers will be teaching their subject, plus one or two learning outcomes of the other subjects in the Faculty. However, a Head of Faculty will be expected to understand and oversee work for several departments, making it mega stressful i'd imagine!

I'm only going to be in Business Studies for another 2 years or so though as I'm looking to work toward Personal & Social Education (Guidance) or MICAS/SEN (Mainstream Inclusion of Children on the Autistic Spectrum / Supporting Education Needs). So hopefully i'll be out of the 'Technologies' umbrella by the time it is implemented!

I think Scientology should be added to the RME learning outcomes. It is a popular religion which is followed by quite a few folk now, especially celebrities (nutters).

It would be quite interesting to see the student's reactions to hearing the actual beliefs of a Scientologist. Well... the ones that we are 'allowed' to know about anyways, since there seems to be a lot of rumours and denials in place from their top brass.

They keep chopping and changing the official Scientology story, such as removing all the stuff to do with aliens and intergalactic space battles (more the pity really).

You can't trust a belief system that charges you to progress through their system... Plus, there is all that holocaust denial stuff and the view that psychology is evil.

Lets add Jedi too.
