Teabags
This is a serious question...When did every band in the UK suddenly go from talking about "gigs" to talking about "shows"?Thanks.

Teabags
Don't really know. Just seems that once it was gigs, now it's all shows.Fuck knows why, but thought I'd ask.

quikblade
Is it also possibly (in the case of larger bands especially) that instead of just the music nowadays theres a whole lot more goes into these events. Whereas when you talk about a small band it tends to be a gig. Just a thought.
RF Scott
Well, the word 'gig' is of American origin, but yeah, 'show' is much more commonplace Stateside. Personally, I've never really liked the word 'gig' as it sounds a little weird to me (don't ask me why!). So I much prefer 'show,' as using something like 'concert' sounds completely stupid! Soda Jerk
I too dislike the pronunciation of the word 'gig'. It's an awkward word.
sexytunk
My bands have only ever done gigs, can't claim to have ever said I was doing a show!
