jcn
I'm looking for a pub quiz in town, where are the best ones and what prizes are up for grabs?I'd also like to hear some good pub quiz team names The best one I ever heard was "Dyslexic man walks into a bra" Ace
Murrr
Ryan Giggs' Black Dad and Bob Hoskins' Right Hand Man are the two that we use whenever we find ourselves involvedin a pub quiz (not often).I don't recommend the Bobbin quiz. It's shit and the chap who usually does it is a bit of a cock.
kirsten
I go to Slain's pretty much every Wednesday. Our team name is pretty dull, but the quiz is good fun. I dunno what the prizes are like, but yeah, it's enjoyable. I like the topical names. On the week of "Sachsgate", there was a team called 'Russell Brand Had Sex With My Granddaughter' and another called 'So Did Jonathan Ross'.'Tell Me, Do You Like The Music Of Shawaddywaddy?' was my favourite name of last night. RossP
The classics are always "Quizteam Aguilera" and "Big Knobs and Wombsticks"Quite enjoyed recent one "Rhianna got thumped by her fella...ella...ella...ella."Queen Vic in Rosemount on a Monday was our regular for a year or so, but now we all live miles away we can't make that. Always a great night.
jcn
Quite enjoyed recent one "Rhianna got thumped by her fella...ella...ella...ella."Lmao, that's effin ace Hmmmm, queen vic you say? Might have to check that out. I used to go to the pub quiz at the Justice Mill, it was a great laugh and there was a 50 cash prize; quite decent prize for a pub quiz. Trying to find a decent substitute has proven quite elusive.
Hugh_Jazz
Recent favourites:"668, the Neighbour of the Beast""My wife is rubbish at wrestling, but you should see her box".
Lonz
I used to go to The Belmont film quiz fairly regularly. Our team name changed frequently but my favourite one was Ratso died on a bus. The quizmaster took massive offense as he was a big Midnight Cowboy fan and refused to read it out. I wouldnt even attempt it unless you at least did film studies at Uni or are really, really into films. Its extremely difficult and there are some hardcore teams that have been going for a few years (One of the teams was called Cobra Kai. Im not sure if thats linked to the local band or not but I assume it is). We once won it and another time came second (heavily leaning on my boyfriends semi photographic memory for names and dates and one of his friends amazing ability to remember unusual plot twists and directors). The prizes are fairly reasonable: you get vouchers for HMV, DVDs and bottles of wine. We once won a Harry Potter t-shirt too. If youre a film buff then its good. There are two quiz masters who alternate weekly. One is fairly brutal and the other is a little less hardcore so if you're going then I'd go a couple of times before you make your mind up about it. It's good fun though and there are a variety of rounds - specialist topic, guess who, picture rounds etc etc. When is the Belmont quiz? Afro Droid
The questions are very varied though so one week you might do really well and another you might do badly. If youre in it for the long term they do an overall league that lasts a couple of months so your scores should balance out even if you have a weak week. What kinda prices are up for grabs? We won the old Bassment pub quiz that used to be a Sunday night with the team name "Feel the Heat from Her Genitals, that's how you tell She's a Champion"; won it about 4 weeks in a row actually, then they stopped it.Bring back the Fudge Quiz! "Would you like a point?"
KarmaTsunami
I used to go to the Slains quiz fairly regularly. My favourite team name which we eventually stuck with was "Pam Shortt's broken both her legs, and I wanna dance with you."
framheim
the queen vic quiz is a fairly serious quiz. gather a strong team to attempt it. it's a shame there's no quiz nights on fridays or saturdays as i like a few pints at a quiz night. RossP
the queen vic quiz is a fairly serious quiz. gather a strong team to attempt it. We used to go every monday and would usually come 2nd or 3rd. Only ever won it once, but that was some celebration!!Got fed up of that team "If you are happy when you are naked, clap your hands"... who would then clap in unison when their team name was read out with the scores each round. That did my nut in!! They were all munters as well, so i doubt anyone was happy to see them naked...We named our team "You only clap if you are horrendously unnattractive and lonely"... they still clapped when their team name was read out ?(

I'll ask him and post back...As far as i'm aware it still is, as he's never available for watching the football on a Wednesday night. Guest Jake Wifebeater
Wouldn't mind getting back into the pub quiz lark, myself and NotBald often won the Buckie Farm one with just the two of us as a team. These days, how can you stop people using their mobiles to cheat?Funniest team name I remember was "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Cucumber"... kirsten
is the quiz at slains still on?Indeed. It's the "Monster Quiz" this Wednesday what with it being the first one of the month. Apparently this means bigger prizes, but we've never won so can't really tell!

-matthEw-
Google on mobiles have ruined pub quizzes forever. I refuse to be party to it and as such haven't been part of a winning quiz team in a couple of years.Humbug!
Larsen B
I once had the pleasure of being in team called "I'll take a shot in the mouth if it means winning this pub quiz".The quizmaster thought we meant from a gun, and said "Oooh that could mean something else where I'm from!"
