Most people get annoyed by the lyric 'are we human or are we dancer' because it "doesnt make sense"

What they dont seem to know, though, is that it's a Hunter S Thompson quote, rather than an error in grammar!

I thought that was well known.

I actually didn't know that........

That lyric does bother me, but it's not just that line. I can't think of the lyrics off the top of my head, but I just remember them annoying me. I'm going to try very hard to enjoy the song next time I hear it just to make sure I'm not being unfair ;)

Fucking hell - that London's Calling cover is horrible

Here's the lyrics for She's So Lovely - imaginative and original

I love the way she fills her clothes

She looks just like them girls in vogue

I love the way she plays it cool

I think that she is beautiful

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's pretty

A fittie

She got a boyfriend though and that's a pity

She's flirty turned thirty

Ain't that the age a girl gets really dirty

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

I love the way she bites her lip

I love the way she shakes them hips

I love the way she makes me drool

I think that she is beautiful

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

Well she's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

A stunner

I want her

Was she this fit when she was 10 years younger

Come see me discretely

She said she's got a trick or two to teach me

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

I think that you are lovely x9

I think that you are beautiful

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

She's so lovely

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

How we'll make it through this

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

Not repetitive in the slightest. Cunts.

And it doesn't even make sense! The whole "I Don't Know" refrain doesn't fit into the narrative of the song at all, what are "we" trying to get through? The rest of the song is about seeing a good looking girl nearby. There's no relationship on the rocks in any other part of the song, it just appears from nowhere.

Cockmoppers.

It makes perfect sense - it is really difficult looking at a pretty girl in the street. I've no idea how the songwriter and his mate ("we") will get through it.

Never mind though, she is lovely, as if we needed reminding, again.

Wow, I didn't realise there were some risqu lyrics in there, probably because during the times I've had to endure that song I've reverted to a happier place in a dark part of my mind where Ruby Wax stroking polystyrene and cawing is a much nicer sound.

Is it just me or doesnt the amount of music snobbery get a bit boring on this site?

It seems some of the folk on here cant go 2 days without laying into whatever is in the top 10?

Do you really know better than all the thousands of people that put these songs into the charts?

I'll give you Scouting for Girls they are woefully shit but not so much that I would go starting a thread about it! And as for the Killers and Coldplay both bands have had critical, professional and public acclaim so to be honest. Im sure they couldnt care less what some part time musician from Aberdeen thinks nor would their fans it just seems threads like this are created to get a reaction not any positive or meaningful discussion.

By that last comment Im generalising Im not having a dig at whoever started this thread or one person in particualr it just seems the forum has changed a lot to me it used to be so much more upbeat and positive in the stuff you would read.

Anyway I probably wont post again for months I generally only read the threads its just been getting my backup.

Ha ha! They sound like something I tried to write when I was 12. I can't even write lyrics now! What a complete tosser their songwriter must be. I heard another of their song by them on the radio the other day... actually caked myself...

"When I was young

I never knew

what this thing called love

could do to you

but since you been gone

and I've been on my own

I've been feeling quite peculiar

but I'll get by without your smile

I'll get through without you

But I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

cause Elvis ain't dead

and you're coming back

and Elvis ain't dead

and you're coming back

Oh

Since you been gone

I can do what I like

but it doesn't mean a lot to me

I'm all shook up

and I'm lonesome tonight

I think I need a love lobotomy

but I'll get by without your smile

I'll get through without you

But I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

cause Elvis ain't dead

and you're coming back

cause Elvis ain't dead

and you're coming back

Oh no, Oh no, Oh no

You

Me

Maybe we we're never meant to be

(2x)

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

cause I heard him on the radio

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

and you're coming back to me I know

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

yes I heard him on the radio

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

Elvis isn't dead

Me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

I wish it was me you chose

cause Elvis ain't dead

and you're coming back

and Elvis ain't dead

and you're coming back

And Elvis ain't dead (Elvis ain't dead)

And Elvis ain't dead (Elvis ain't dead)

And Elvis ain't dead (Elvis ain't dead)

And Elvis ain't dead (Elvis ain't dead)

(Elvis has left the building

Thank you and good night)"

Elvis is dead anyway. I want to use his house as a toilet.

Tiny bit of respect for managing to get "peculiar" into the end of a line and rhyming quite well though.

Pish pish song all the same.

Yes, I'd say that one person, any person who actually finds music that they like for themselves, rather than being told what to like judging by the number under the CD in HMV or wherever, knows better than the public.

It could be about rape of course from the rapists poitn of view.

yes that's it. It's deep don't you see?

Thank fuck I was never subjected to that.

By the way what's happened to Hard-Fi? For some reason this thread reminded me of them. I fucking hated them.

Hard-Fi are an abomination. I hate all that self-indulgent 'working class hero' pish.

"We're well fucking street, man. We live for the weekend. It's all CCTV, grime and lager for us. SOLID."

Piss off.

I'm by no means hard, but I reckon I could take the singer in a fight. It's clearly all an act to get people to avoid how shit their songs are and buy their records.

Oasis did a similar thing, except it wasn't an act (it was probably overplayed), but (in my opinion), they could back it up with cracking songs.
